I would think a Torque wrench on those crankshaft bolts getting them to specs would get better results. Over torqueing is just as bad as under torqueing I would think.

I have a 1987 JD318 bought new. It has the P218 engine. Currently has 1500 hours on it. Only problem is it burns oil, but otherwise perfect. I suspect worn valve guides/seals. Problem is Onan has been out of business for years and new parts are hard to come by. Main supplier is a bit of a curmudgeon and over charges for his parts. I will keep this til it dies and then convert over to new small engine warehouse motor. Sunstrand hydraulic pump is bulletproof. Kind Regards, Craig

Thank's Steve. I wasn't aware they went away from points in 87. I have an 87 318. I knew you have to pull the motor to change the starter but luckily I haven't had any issues. Thanks for the video and if you want to bring me a loader ill take it lol.

I love spray on contact cement but the nozzle getting clogged is always an issue. I clear it with carb spray after spraying the glue.

We used to have a Western Auto Brand Riding Lawn mower with Vari-drive. It had an 8 ho Brigs and Stration Engine. It was rope start, but it would out mow anything that We ever had, but when You got of of it, You're whole body would vibrate for about 2 hours. It turned the 2 blades really fast and that 8 h.p. would really kick with the rope start. My Dad nearly got his Fingers broken cranking it.

Steve, correct me if I’m wrong those bolts are to be torqued to a certain torque spec ?. The oil filter only has to 3/4 of a turn after contact with body. I have done my John Deere lawn tractor oil filter like that for 35 years and never ever had a filter come loose.

hey Steve, how you been it's been a while. Yeah you're not gonna beat that 3M context man that's some good stuff right there. Do you know if you turn the nozzle on the top of the can you can get more or less spray spray it heavy or spray it light it is it's an adjustmentpiece of useless information anyway glad glad to see you're doing well. Thank you for the video. Look forward to the next one take care of yourself.

@FrenchBeefCDN There's a difference between tinkering and actually fixing things RIGHT... people like you destroy things and make it harder for the next guy.... your free time will cost you tine doing half ass work. Enjoy.
