@dhenschel4 You are correct. No one else has mentioned this. It is odd to see the pipe cracked along the top. Perhaps this is where the seam is located during its manufacturing? Or its from resting heavy objects on top of the pipe for years. If the problem is endemic to the pipe then there could be leaks in other sections, places not visible, or places that require excavation. I’d replace worn sections with solid type ABS DWV pipe and held up with pipe supports about every 4’ apart.

Out of curiosity how old is that cast iron pipe that was being replaced?
@chandlerdempsey84124 күн бұрын
Cast iron pipes were first used for sewers in the early 17th century, and became a standard part of sewer systems in Europe and America by the mid-19th century. Cast iron pipes were a major improvement over earlier materials like clay or wood, and were a reliable choice for waste disposal. Here are some key dates in the history of cast iron pipes: 1664: The first large-scale cast iron piping system was installed at Versailles, France. 1746: The Chelsea Water Company introduced cast iron pipes in London, England. 1786: Sir Thomas Simpson invented the bell and spigot joint, which became the standard for cast iron pipes. 1810s: Cast iron pipes were installed in Philadelphia to replace deteriorated spruce log pipes. 1950s: Ductile iron pipe was introduced as an improvement on cast iron. 1970s: Plastic became more common and began to replace cast iron as the standard for pipes. Cast iron pipes are known for their durability and longevity, often lasting over a century. However, cast iron is susceptible to corrosion, so different coatings were developed to help slow it down.
