I used to do Maintenance work at The Y.M.C.A in Asheboro North Carolina. It was built in 1976. They had toilets like that and they didn't want to spend any money to fix anything. Luckily there was ceramic tile floors around the toilets with a drain. I am glad that I didn't have to pay The Water Bill over there.

Cudos Steve! I work for a school district with hundreds of these flushometers, and deal with this every time! I dread touching them sometimes knowing that I'll probably just make it worse. I'm getting good at it though!

Do these valves always require such a long riser pipe.....to the stub?

I work as a hotel technician and those flush valves can be a pain in the ass sometimes. I worked on one the other day and I replaced the diaphragm and vacuum breaker but the shut off at the toilet wasnt working so I had shut the main off which turned off water to all the fucking stalls. I put some 4wd40 on now the shut off spins nice. Nice video steve

Excellent toilet to have around the home in the bathroom more superior to the average home toilet. Also cute chihuahua canine at the termination, but that vehicle was noisier than that toilet flush.

I know this is an old video but I went through the same thing just days ago! I didn’t have a new inlet spud so I wrapped the outer spud gasket with teflon and it’s holding for the moment. One of those pain in the rear jobs...

I can't see how this type of flush could work. A cistern would drop a couple of gallons of water in 2 seconds. Never see these in the UK. Would it move a dump out of the bowl first attempt I wonder.
@woodbine667 жыл бұрын
Yes, but in US, they don't have our pathetically low water pressure/flow from the main. That's why we rely on loft tanks and cisterns. Undersized water mains.

You’re not supposed to put Teflon on any of this Sloan stuff it’s all compression. Not sure why the last guy did.

Hi Steve, from Puerto Rico. The next time replace with a original Sloan-Royal H553A O-Ring y resuelto el gotereo Hermano Plomero and have a nice day !!! 😎👍👍
@brittplumbingcoinc.28877 жыл бұрын
Over tightening is never the correct answer. The nut at the water inlet does not make the seal, the o ring makes the seal. Your o ring probably rolled when you inserted it into the valve. Use silicone grease to prevent that.
@emildekoven48727 жыл бұрын
Generally, I agree with you BD....if only because overtorquuing threaded pieces makes it difficult for the next servicer.....even if its YOU! Then there's the stress on the brass......

when i see those flushometers in that shape i replace the piping but leave the main body of the flushometer alone unless it needs a new cartridge or internal handle gasket

I've seen that countless times at work, when the spud leaks the only solution is to change the rubber gasket. I know is a pain in the neck to take the spud apart but you would have saved all the extra work at the beginning. Oh and the previous comment about the guys insurance being cheap obama care? lets see if the poor man is even going to get insurance with this new administration.
