I had the same problem problem with the slow hot water flow. In my case it was sentiment build up in the hot water faucet valve. Cleaned it out flows great again. My wives thinks I'm a hero now. Thanks for the awesome video.

Steven Thanks. I would never have thought the Cold water would start working this way or not working. Great job diagnosing. Must have drove you nuts realizing you turned off the Main water. Now my story. This morning we had no Hot Water in the Kitchen sink faucet. Thought, did my wife pay the bill? I turned the valve to the cold side and it worked. Than I thought, great the water heater went. I went into the Half bathroom and the hot water worked fine. Hmm, I watched your video and a couple others. Two said, including yours, that it might be a frozen pipe. I opened the cabinet door, and the base was wet. A small very small leak coming from the hot water side. That's a good sign. Means we have water. I put my hand on the pipe and it was very cold. Great right? lol, I looked at the cold valve and it was fine. No leaks and cold. Normal. I went back to the Hot and was going to shut it off and take of the braided hose. I realized the Hot water valve was almost off. WHAT! how did that happen? Does freezing pipes make the valve turn as it thaws? Okay so I turned the valve to the left (opened it up), and we had hot water. Yee ha!!! Okay so now we need to replace the hot water valve do to the small leak or replace the rubber washers but at least we have Hot Water. Oh Yeah, I can help you with those t-shirts someone mentioned.

watching your video as i am trying to figure out why my bathroom hot water faucet is making lots of noise with a lot of water coming out then slows to a trickle then nothing. I had just replaced my lower element on the hot water tank and turned on the main water valve slowly and waited till all the air was out before turning off the hot water tap! Everything was working well till i checked the faucet in the bathroom and for a few hours was checking all the taps and the hot water tank. Looked on youtube and there was you and the dog so i watched you fix the ladys tap...thought i would check mine also and the darn tap had somehow turned itself off...i know that water can do strange things as i had never touched those taps below the sink. Thanks for posting your youtube video Steve,cause idont think i wouldve checked under the sink and tryed those valves...subscribed now,Thanks for the help sir Regards Martin

Great video! Wish you had come to my house to fix my bathroom faucet..had same problem..hot side coming out slow, cold fine..new kohler faucet! Plumbers have been out twice to install faucet because first guy said he couldn't do it..& now having this problem..what's weird is that after I turn the cold side on, the hot side will work better, water comes out stronger but goes back to weak after shutting off hot side. Plumber told me to call company to get new cartridge and have it before calling them back out again because they think that's what it is and they said they don't carry part??! Another visit is another $115!

We have water running on both sides of our kitchen faucet, but the water is cold on both sides. Our dishwasher is directly to the right of our kitchen sink, and when we use the dishwasher, hot water also comes thru the hot side, and when we shut it off, it is cold again. Do we need a new faucet, or could there be a hose twisted somewhere?

Thanks for your two part video clips to identify the hot water bathroom faucet low pressure and the shower head pressure. It would be a great improvement to both videos if they get edited by cutting down on the length. Both videos were nearly 40 minutes where they may cut down to at most 7-10 minutes. In addition, since you discovered the "cholesterol" in the pipes which was mostly sediments from the main, it would be prudent to recommend to your customer to install a whole house sediment filter to capture the dirt before entering the house pipes, water heater etc. At any rate, the choice is yours.

Had something similar a little bit ago, very little hot coming out of a lowes kitchen faucet that her son installed about 3 mos ago, blockage was in faucet somewhere. Went and bought identical faucet and replaced and told her to take the old one back to lowes and tell them what happened and see if you can get your money back.

I think what might have happen is after you cleared the screw out of the hot supply line You should have ran water threw it into a bucket & flushed any other debri out first before you rehooked it' & it is most likely why the cold water received the dirt & debris left behind the screw as is what got pushed over to the other side 'that when you turn on the hot supply line it pushed all that gunk over to the cold water supply & now it's clogged.

At first I disagreed with you Dave, but remembered that the house shares the Cold water down in the basement. Actually seems like the City is pumping in dirty water. They need a Filter on the incoming feed for both the house and the hot water before the water breaks off to other feeds in the house.
@SiteReader
@SiteReader 2 жыл бұрын
That makes sense, Screen PrintR. There has to be a reason why the cold water was running fine and then got clogged right after he cleared the broken screw head out of the hot side. . . . . And thanks for the great video, Steve. It's going to help me tomorrow as I try to figure out why my kitchen faucet is running so slow on the hot side. Love your troubleshooting style, and no editing out of the mistakes. It makes me feel better to see that a professional makes them too. These videos where everything goes perfectly don't teach you a thing. No real job goes like that.

Looks like that whole house's plumbing system is grunged up, good candidate for a whole house filter. Just me, but seeing how badly clogged the cold shutoff was wouldnt it have been a good idea to just change both shutoffs since theyre the same age-? How do we know that screw from the hot side didn't come from the hot side shutoff under the sink ? Ive used those compression shutoffs for years, great time savers and never had one leak - yet. I like them when replacement time comes too ya don't always have to cut the pipe, ive heard its not supposed to work, but if theyre in good shape ive left the old nut and compression ring on and just replaced the valve, amazingly ive never had a leak - even though I expect it to every time--lol Just my story, your mileage may vary.
@stevenlavimoniere
@stevenlavimoniere 8 жыл бұрын
that type of shut off does not have a screw !!!!!!!!the washer is pressed on .... so the screw head ,,,,had to come from the hot water system some were and floated up to the shutoff .odd to find it in there .
@yambo59
@yambo59 8 жыл бұрын
AH-! I stand corrected in assuming it had a screw. I wasnt being critical, just asking the question -- I should have considered that possibility, that's why you weren't concerned about the other valve, you already knew that type valve didn't have one, something I couldn't have known but you've seen them all so common knowledge for you-lol. So it could have come from who knows where in the system-! That is a rare thing to find, a screw head just traveling around aimlessly for who knows how long from who knows where.
