I served in Ogoja cross rivers state... I visited this place twice this OBUDU. This is one of the best place in the world. But now am in Australia. I'm from Cross River. The liyel administration didn't abandon Tinapa and Obudu Cattle Ranch. He maintained those structures and they were still functioning. The State structures died shortly after the current administration came in. He completely neglected this structures and rarely paid little or any attention to the tourism sector.

The Mambilla Plateau is another waste Tourist potential, the highest mountain in Nigeria is found there, the Mambilla is even higher than Obudu Ranch Resorts. As a child I loved visiting these places with my parents, I remember playing games at the games arcade in Tinapa, visiting the museum, reading at the beautiful library. Calabar also had the best public transport system in NIGERIA; it was called “metro blue” buses and very beautiful looking taxis. EbonyLife was once broadcasting from Calabar and the movie “Half of a Yellow Sun” featuring the award winning Chiwetel Ejiofor was shot in Tinapa and Calabar. When Calabar was at its peak it was a crime to litter the streets and you would get arrested if you did, it was clean and green and ahead of it’s time. Now, we weep for the state.

I lived in Calabar for two years before moving to Lagos so seeing the delapidated, sorry state of Cross River state now has broken my heart. I remember the fond memories I created in this state while enjoying Tinapa and Marina resort in their glory and shed a tear, this is heartbreaking. This broke my heart. In my entire life, I have never ever wanted or desired to visit Nigeria because to me as a West African, we live under the same circumstances so there’s really nothing different to see, but this video showed me so much that I desired to go and experience the tourism village, except as usual, it has been shut down. As I said, we all live under the same circumstances. Less than 30 minutes from where I live is a gorgeous park with a dancing fountain that rivaled that in Dubai. People travelled from other parts of the country to come and see it, and now, it’s shut down. We deserve better! Our hard earned money in the form of taxes are used to build these beautiful edifices. And they are just allowed to be run down. The place is so beautiful, Steven. The view from the drone is breathtaking. I’m sad. Just sad. Will things ever change? It’s disheartening.

The "slave route/port" at calabar was one of the busiest in Africa then. Most "slaves" from the Eastern hinterland of Nigeria, especially the igbos were transported from the calabar and adjoining ports. Most of these "slaves" ended up in the US and the Caribbean. Hope you visit someday cos here is also your land. But that has to be when things get back to normal .. Cheers

I've experienced so much of Calabar the past 15 years; Obudu, Tinapa, Marina resort, the Carnival and literally everything else. It is extremely sad how bad the situation has been in Calabar. And it has drastically affected the energy in the City. Calabar is still one of my favourite cities in Nigeria and I really hope the situation gets much better. There is soo much the City has to offer.

In Nigeria government control everything that generates huge profit, even if an entrepreneur started it company, government will find ways to introduce itself into it or frustrate the entrepreneur/company. Majority of Nigerians believe government and God must do everything for them, they are mentally lazy and insensitive to creating, innovation, and maintenance culture is zero. They are in God will help us state of mind at all time, they discourages their family members residing aboard from coming back to invest.
