My x husband and i use to work for Kmart I worked at the return desk and he was loss prevention and people would get stuff out of the dumpster and bring it in and return it lol it was a big thing for a while until my husband figured it out one day ..that's wh u a lot of places put rips in things..but now days most places u have to have the recipe even for store credit. But I love watching you guy I'm a total dumpster diver I love it.. And for as far as getting caught if been told by the police that its the city's property once its in the dumpster lol..and the city could care less sooo ya know.stores who have a problem with it I think are just jealous because they really just want to keep the stuff but can't cuz they would get fired.... Anyway u guys are great.

Also a tip, a lot of the electronic pieces you find with broken screens that are fairly modern have parts inside that are still completely viable for resale. . Ive seen liquid plasma, LCD's, LED TV's with so much as a simple blown capacitor that needed to be replaced, and resale it without having to replace parts out the pocket because they're in other gizmos. Its as simple as a few solders then you profit as much the worth of said object. It will give you something to do while Steph is logging in gift cards. :p

You are almost better grabbing the bags and going - you can always toss it out later if its junk. When I hit my Gamestops up especially during the day you either have to know when they are throwing it out so you are there first AND know when their shift changes are as they typically toss it out then. I usually exclusively do GameStop and I actually log all that I find the dollar value and if i sell it what I make. I have done well over the last year or so. I bring the Gamestop Bags home unless there is no one around in the back and go through them and toss the rest out. I admire that you both go its an adrenaline rush for sure! BTW The reason they scold you about going through their trash is people unfortunately will scrounge good things and return them for store credit in that case they lose out.

It’s legal to dumpster dive in the US according to the law once it enters the dumpster it’s public domain however if there is a sign that says no trespassing then you can get a ticket or go to jail. So if there is no sign saying you can’t then they technically can’t yell at you.

So I’m also thinking of partnering with someone who is home all day and wouldn’t mind the selling end. Have many friends who do animal rescue, foster, and adoption like me. It’s very costly. If I can partner with someone who will sell what I find, it could substantially defray our costs to continue to do right by the critters.

Because it's on private property. People can get in trouble. And some people have no respect if they do, do this. They'll dive and leave there mess. When I put stuff on my curb and the junkets come around I don't yell at them. Take it. I live in IL and most of the dumpsters by me are locked so you cant get in l, have cameras and have postings if you are caught you will go to jail and be fined. Because it private property

police showed up within under five minutes when I was looking in Ulta dumpster. I was confronted twice within 2 months. Second time had to go to court twice. I was told that Ulta has asked them to charge divers with trespassing that they know we are selling the cosmetics. It scared me so much that I have not dived in a year.

It’s mind blowing (Jussie Smollett for instance) I cannot figure out why a company cares what happens to their trash!!! I asked my daughter who works for Michaels and she said it was company policy that they threw stuff away but at her store they put it in the trash compactor and it usually was the stuff that was after the $4 bags of the $2 bags they try to sell and floral stuff and stuff that was really messed up and recalled

I have gotten caught a few times but I go back though...if I dont need it then I will donate it. My grandsons school gets all the things they can use. Last year each child in the school each got 2 books for a gift at the last day of school. Homeless shelters or anyone I know that could use or may need what I may have found! I Love It!

We live near a university town. Everyone dumpster dives at the end of the semesters. In our state dumpster diving is legal unless posted with a no tresspassing sign. One time a security guard kicked us out. We called the university to make sure what their policies were and they fired the security guard. 😀

Going at night is way better less chance of getting caught :) and most cops They just wanna make sure you aren’t like doing drugs in there otherwise the cops leave you alone but the workers get sooo mad it’s stupid it’s going to the landfill all ur doing is saving it

I have called my local city code and force meant and told me to call the shift appointment and find out what the rules are I called the sheriffs department head of time give them my first and last name locations that I would be dumpster diving just in case they got a call which works out great

Doesn’t your state RECYCLE? I thought California did. If they do, it should be reported. That, they are not following protocol! Hitting companies in their PROFITS usually changes things. Sometimes it’s not the way we want🤷🏻‍♀️
