The difference between automatic headlights and headlights that shut off automatically

Good to know. I have a 2023 4Runner TRD OFF ROAD Premium and I do not understand why it did not come with automatic on off headlights. My wife always forgets to turn them on and to turn them off. Good to know they will turn off by the setting you just showed us. Thanks so much. I really don't understand why Toyota would not put automatic on off headlights on all vehicles. Just about all other manufacturers do. Especially on the models that come with the Premium Package. One other thing, the wife does not like the 4 Runner because it does not come with an automatic rear hatch opener. I love the 4Runner, but she may have me trade it back in , next year for a Highlander because of the on off headlights and not having the automatic hatch opener. I wonder when they come out with the new generation, they will add these two options. As always, thanks for the information.

i agree with what you said. i have issues with driving lights that are too bright to where people dont know their headlights are not on as well

Thank you! On the new Audis u have to have the headlights on in order for the ambient lighting to be on. I’m pretty sure they have this same feature so I can leave the headlights on and enjoy the ambient lighting.

They actually do sell kits to turn on lights automatically for older cars.

Question is if Toyota has auto feature n it set to auto, is the auto-off timer feature already enabled? Or does light setting timer is needed ? Thank you !

Leaving your lights 24/7 is great unless your car does not have an ambient light sensor because your entire dash will be dark during the day if you don't like being blinded at night lol. I'm gonna install the sensor and maybe even the light stock with auto on it

I recently replaced the battery on my 2013 RAV4. Now the automatic headlight function does not work & dash not illuminated when on this setting. How to reset it?

My 2024 corolla cross base model does not have automatic lights, but does have automatic high beams. Go figure. This is my first toyota and i will not be buying another. Other terrible thing is that the emergency brake automatically engages if you crack open the door while slightly moving. Theres no way to turn off this feature. Or the sealtbelt alarm goes ape shit if you take off your seatbelt while barely moving. Terrible when your vehicle now forces you into situations you dont want to be in or to listen to bells and chimes with no way to shut off.
