That "Thong" Patrick is wearing is a "Fundoshi" a traditional undergarment in Japan, primarily worn by men. It's a bit of a movie trope at this point particularly when looking at samurai themed anime and old samurai movies. And as for the cloaked figure it might be a reference to a Spongebob Episode where Patrick severs one of his arms due to the destructive power of his Karate chops before generating a new arm; the arm then regenerates into a complete second Patrick Star. I'm not positive that's the case but that's my theory. Also i totally remember the scene you're talking about with Kuwabara to Yusuke from YuYu Hakusho. I just can't remember the exact episode.

You were referring to Yu Yu Hakusho, when Kuwabara feigned death from Togoro to give Yusuke a pissed-off powerup. Which is also what Togoro wanted, I might add. He even got Kurama to play along after he recognized the ruse. Kuwabara revealed he was alive and danced around and laughed at Yusuke from that. I think I recall even Kurama letting out a quiet snigger.

Yu Yu Hakusho at the end of The Dark Tournament Saga when Kuwabara had to fake his death from 100% Demon Toguro in order for Yusuke to see and reach his 100% Spirit Level thing or more and match up to Toguro’s powerful demon form and become the new champ. Openings give you snippets of whats to happen, just different from how it is shown in the opening. Look at any anime opening, and then compare what you see to the arc... most of what you see, varying new characters, will happen in the show. In this opening, Spongebob's eyes go from blue to red during his fight with DoodleBob... meaning he's either master his powers, or is a least get the hang of it. Calling it now on that.
