Same here. Jason especially. Reading Kevin Smiths blogs about trying to help him is what really changed shit for me. Took hours to get thru them all and a lot of tears were shed but for whatever reason it just made me look at shit in a way I never had before. I quit that week after 20+ years of heavy use. I rarely mention it nowadays (to the point where I genuinely don't know what exact year that was....at least 15 years now) Kevin seriously saved me as much as he did Jason. Plus he gave me the bonus lesson on what a fuckin real friend should be. Fan of that dude for life.

You speak truth there mate. Ive seen it take so many people from all different walks of life. I've been in and out of addiction so much. It sucks man, I slipped up recently, just back clean now, but only a week behind me right now. "it" doesn't take anything away you do, I'm in sober living in Detroit now, been here since Jan 24th last year, been sober a year now, I've had 3 roommates die of overdose, last guy just last Saturday, we live across from a gas station where they sell drugs BEHIND the glass, yes the cashier sells everything, a van pulls up every few hours and re ups the sellers, it's nuts, but my roommate was being a dick to the seller, going in every 20 min and talking crap so the dealer gave him a hot pack, hot pack being a pack of heroin or crack with fyntenal, I have him 2 doses of narcan and it didn't do anything. Rent here is 250 and it's a regular apt...I get the living room and kitchen, but I'm a truck driver with 2 million safe miles and been making 26 bucks an hour, 7 days a week most weeks and I get double time 52 bucks an hour Sundays, I've saved up 53 grand so far, next week I'm buying a stealth camper van and moving to where I work,,,,it's sad to see ppl die from od but I gotta admit I have no sympathy, I even warned the last 2 guys they sell fyntenal laced drugs but they still buy it,,,they think after being sober a few months they can handle the same amount they used to
@SR1Records2 жыл бұрын
@@breakingames7772 Respect to you for getting clean! I know you'll stick with it. You made a good point though in your last sentence. A lot of people OD because they quit for a while and then when the relapse then take the same dose that they used to take because they don't realise that their body had been building up a resistance to the drugs. Back when i was smoking weed every day i used to put about a gram in each joint. And while that wouldn't kill me now it fuck me up and i doubt i'd be able to finish it! But yeah, that was a very good point that you made about doses. And from one former addict to another - i wish you all the best and i'm glad you're clean now.

That's a dangerous mentality honestly. There are lots of functional addicts, and to say things like that will make functional addicts, whose lives haven't been ruined but also isn't what it should be, think that they aren't addicted.

Often times there are many heart breaking things you must confront in order to deal with addiction. It's multitudes of heart breaking moments like this that eventually make people want to change. Emotional pain will trump all other forms of pain, the pain of physical addiction, the pain of mental need. Breaking the heart of someone you love is often a catalyst for this pain and change.

My family has worked in recovery for many years, and I've heard many years of gut wrenching stories similar to stuff like this. I met him during one of the tougher times he was going through, so seeing him messed up first hand, and seeing him now, it's fantastic. I wish I could meet this guy, it was a pleasure meeting him regardless but I really wish I could meet this version.

My son, who is 6 months sober from fent, went to Jason's show tonight!! It's gonna to be great for him to see someone who came from the same terrible addiction of opiates ❤ proud of my baby, Jay and Steve-O 🙏 we do recover!!!!❤❤❤

It’s crazy how much drugs can change the face of someone. Jay is a stand up guy. Super funny. Good to see he’s doing well now. And Kevin, just one of the best people and friends someone could have in their life.

Jay, I don’t know you, nor ever met you. But I’m fucking proud of you, dude. I’m glad you’re still here, and your sobriety is inspiring. Same with Steve-O, you’re two people that really shaped my formative years and this interview really hit home. I wish you both all the love in the world.

Awesome to hear about the friendship and support that Kevin gave Jason, that’s beautiful man. Anyone else really baffled that Jason was given opiates by medical professionals after he explained that he was in recovery? Was that really the only choice?

Addiction is so Godamn tough…..mentally and physically. I feel like people who have never had a really good addiction just has no clue how bad it is. So glad that these dudes got better. The struggle never truly goes away…..it gets a bit easier but it’s never totally “good”

I wish I could transfer the way I would feel to my mom and dad when I would be sick not having a shot of heroin just so they could know the complete agony I was in while dope sick or withdrawing they would just think I was saying I was sick and couldn't function was all just a ploy to get them to feel bad and give me a 20 to go cop and get well. But my mom was more sympathetic cuz she would see that I wasn't making up what I was going through when I would be throwing up shaking and drenched in sweat looking like I was gonna die but that would be like on day 2 without any opiates and it would be a 21 period before I would start feeling normal and could get up and walk around

I remember back when I was loaded, I used to relate to Jay's story so much. Absolutely a great dude. He probably hated Kevin's guts back then, but now you can tell how grateful he is for it. Not a fan of Kevin these days, but anyone who's willing to do that for a friend is a great dude.
@vangoghsseveredear2 жыл бұрын
@bononista I just meant because when you're heavy in opiate withdrawal, anyone stopping you from scoring you're usually pretty angry at, even if it is surface level. I dont think he actually *hated* Kevin. I guess I phrased it poorly
