Hey Steve big dr who fan here. I tried replicating your regeneration effect tutorial and I found another way you could do it. By increasing the birth and death size on the particles and adding effects like vector and radial fast blur, tweaking the settings a bit you get a good effect. You can than duplicate the layer and add a white tint to it with the tint effect. I want to thank you for making that tutorial because without it I would have been able to put my own little spin on it. Thank you Steve.

Amazing! I was trying to do this - editing myself into the ghostbusters afterlife trailer - but I don't have a light that is extendable (just a lamp and flashlights) Nor do I have a big enough green screen for most of the shots (to be able to see from my feet to my head I would need to have the camera further away from me. To have the light behind me slightly as in most of the shots, I would need to be pretty far away from the green screen. Even further if I need the lamp to be out of the shot to reduce lens flare. Because of this, the perspective means the green screen is too small). Any tips on how I could make this work? P.S. I'm filming upstairs which has a sloped/triangular ceiling. it is 2 meters high at the highest point (3 feet on the left and right - the lowest points), 4 meters front to back and 3 meters wide. I have a tripod so I can move my camera around. Thank you!

@PaulyEditz sorry no Buddy. Maybe can you explain me, how this Movie costs 200 Million Dollar? Is just full of CGI. Yeah it's a Virus out there. But in the 90s, you had go into a real Jungle, on a real Boat or Arena. The Movies made more or less in real Houses. But this Movie? All Locations more or less in the Studio. Ok I can you explain, where are 50 Million Bucks. The Cast alone has 50, the Director 10 Million. I don't like this Movie. This Movie is more for start, and play on your Phone or talk with somebody.

@@rodrigolandaromero hey Rodrigo. The Fact is that Steve thinks on every step. The Light, the Shadows and so much small Details, to make the Clip more realistic. Tell me Rodrigo: Do you like an Evening in the Cinema, or seeing a Movie at Home, if you know that the Full Movie was produced for 200 Million Dollar, but the Movie is full of CGI? Have you saw the Movie? How often did you see Gal Gadot? Her Cameratime was to short in comparison to the other Cast. I understand now why Ryan Reynolds needs a Break, because he's every time in the same Role. The Role of a Comedian with funny patter. But he can play more than the funny Guy. Check or remember at the Movie Burried. ;)

Nice! I think you could've fine tuned the brightness a little more, you can see your highlights are too bright and your shadows are too dark, comparing to the people next to you. Just look at your boots, I think they may be the darkest part in the whole video. Otherwise it's fantastic!

I do 3D Modelling but never really tried VFX, maybe I should give it a try, cause it looks like a lot of fun. And although AE is probably pretty complex and has a steep learning curve, I have to say, I could follow the tutorial without ever opened AE. The steps were quite intuitive for me and looked to me like a mix of Photoshop and a node based workflow from Houdini or Blender
@SteveRamsdenYoutube2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I find AE is like a moving Photoshop. If you want to learn more about the things it can do you can check out my free webinar: www.diymoviemaking.com/pl/2147517057
@user-pv9uz3cg8n2 жыл бұрын
AE and Photoshop are made by the same company so naturally there will be some similarities if you are used to Photoshop; they are also, of course, both layer-based workflows. If you are looking for more node-based Visual FX/Special FX you can try using DaVinci Resolve Fusion (it is free), as it is a purely node based Visual Effects editor that works a lot like After Effects and lets you merge 2D and 3D elements into the same final composite. Though workflows vary in Hollywood studios, you can also try more professional Software like "Nuke" and combine it with 3D modeling software like Maya. Unreal Engine 5 has also been gaining traction in the film industry. Adobe's products do have quite a bit of use in the professional film industry though, so they are close to an industry standard. Special FX can be fun. Hope that helps!

To me, the black levels are a bit off, the grain does not really match, and it also seem to have perspective or lens mismatch or something like that - the boots looks like they aren't on the scene surface plane, and the figure somehow looks thicker (wider?) than the guys in the original footage.
