When I was flying combat in Iraq, I would listen to Desert Solitaire and Structures from Silence over and over after I returned from missions. It was a calming ritual as powerful as any meditation. I was grateful to have found such beautiful, moving and contemplative music in the middle of chaos.

The last time I went to a Steve Roach concert was in Pasadena, CA on August 30, 2019 at the Ambient Church series, and that show was so amazing. Now with the pandemic, I'm grateful for Steve Roach making his live music available on KZbin. Such a generous gesture! I loved seeing this concert at home, the next best thing to being there. His ambient styling is as brilliant as ever. I love the slow chord progressions with infinite reverb tails, the tribal instruments and shamanistic drums, and lately I loved his use of sequenced music, almost like the logical progression of "Berlin School" electronic music. Thanks Steve for doing this. Wishing you all the best from Culver City, CA. And wishing everyone be well and be safe.

It has a crisp picture, clear sound, few if any technical flaws and the sightlines for watching Steve are really good. Been a synth addict since Bob Moog but Steve has mastered a field of synth use that I doubt Moog ever envisioned. W. Carlos, K. Emerson and T. Dream provided entertainment but this synth work opens doors wherein Time becomes meaningless….far eclipsing mere entertainment. 😎👍🎼🎹 Thanks Steve.

When I listen to the song "Structure of Silence," I am reminded of the wonderful times I spent hiking in the Chernobyl Zone. Deep in the wild forest stands the enormous Soviet radar, "Russian Woodpecker," which has been abandoned since the Chernobyl disaster. I used to climb to the top of this 150-meter metal structure and take in the views of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the ghost town of Pripyat. The song "Structure of Silence" brings back memories of those carefree times, evoking a sense of nostalgia that leaves me feeling emotional. Unfortunately, with the current war in Ukraine, I doubt that I will ever be able to visit the Chornobyl Zone in the same way again.

For me structures is the time in life where innocent young life calls for unconditional love and each and every call, elementary demand, will be met by an equally strong response of "care" (a natural right of life that not everyone gets but should get) until it just decents, without a punctuated end, it just goes away. And when your old, heading for your last day structures starts playing again, getting louder and louder... (thats why i do not put a watch on the life i create, not even friends... i just cannot forget how it is when there is none and by that, Do Not grant me to stop caring)
