What an awesome channel!! Steve, I’m not sure why you have never popped up on my feed. I’ve been watching fishing vids for years and man yours has become one of my favorites! Been watching a bunch of older ones also. Thanks again

I really enjoyed putting this one together. It could have easily been longer but my attention span is too short. Lol.

Very cool to acknowledge us South Africans. Bass angling is big here and growing everyday. Your channel and videos are top quality. Very educational and easy to understand. Power...

Thanks from very warm South Africa, Steve! I fully agree with your video here. Can you maybe make a few bank angling videos again? Thanks for a great channel. I believe the saying: Fishing from the East, fishing's least, fishing from the West, fishing best.
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
My grandfather used to say that to me so often as a youngster. It definitely makes a difference for sure. I have got some bank videos in the works!

Yep vid is appropriate to South African waters too especially when temps are cool . From JHB 👍

I tend to over complicate and over think things when I'm having trouble finding bass. But it's often much more simple than I'm making it out to be. I have to remind myself that it's often the little things that matter most. That usually helps a lot.
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
I do the same thing. Need to pause, reset, and then get going. It is so easy for me to take myself out of the game and get too distracted and forget some of those basics.

lol my bud and I are up in southern New England. Every year we come up with our new master plan ( that we started this week) and end up going right back to what we always do. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks. The good part is we fish totally different so it does help in figuring out what they want. Looking forward to getting out there. Gonna give jerkbaits a real try this year, not just a few cast👍

This is great info Steve. A lot of guys forget the world around them and try to focus on just the fish.

So when it rains hard and the water clouds up The bait fish also push to the bank in 2-4 feet of water?
@SteveRogersOutdoors10 ай бұрын
What I have witnessed filming underwater on my home lakes definitely supports that. This has been in water that normally has good visibility and when it clouds up it seems like just about every species in the lake pulls into cloudier pockets.

I’m sure I’m not the only one to experience this but bluegill fed bass are always more solid. By that I mean it’s seems like more muscle and less fat.

Do you feel like this still applies in southern states?
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
That is a great question. I definitely believe so. There are lots of times of the year when that shade-producing cover along those north sides will be a key part of the equation.
@johngarner992911 ай бұрын
What is your source for stating the north side of a lake receives the most direct sunlight?
@SteveRogersOutdoors11 ай бұрын
Great question. The tilt at which the earth sits in the northern hemisphere in relationship to the angle of the sun, especially in the spring, fall and winter. For example, on my home lake here in northern Illinois the north shoreline will see the ice come off well before the south side shorelines. This article/demonstration explains it better than I can:eli.lehigh.edu/sites/eli.lehigh.edu/files/sun_rays_demo.pdf

Honest to God, I catch the most fish first thing in the morning on the south side of most rivers and lakes. Nope, wait, nevermind. Put my kayak seat in backwards.
