Only a 2AZ-FE 4cyl, but I imagine she's got at least another 100k miles (160k km) in her. Definitely something to be said for both Toyota and Nissan motors.

Best way to get oil pressure on new td42 is to lift the back of the car up over a metre or so. I found that greasing the pump gears often won't work, they need oil forced up the pick up. Works every time for us.

Nissan have always done their motors to perfection. I'm on my 4th Nissan car now. Pity they can't get the CVT to last. My first was a 88 Skyline, same donk that GMH bought for the VL Commode. Motor was so quiet you had to lift the bonnet to hear it running.
@zonie703 ай бұрын
I agree with you on Nissan engines. I live in the US and we have had a Nissan engine called the VC turbo here for a few years . I just wonder if you guys have it down there ? In the Nissan Rogue it is a 1.5 3 cylinder variable compression engine. Really unique , but I believe far too complex .
@prevost86863 ай бұрын
Unfortunately their CVT transmissions have given them such a bad reputation here in the states that they don’t sell nearly as many vehicles as they used to. No manufacturer’s CVTs are any good. Just a $5,000 throw-away unit.

That oil feed is for the vac pump feed. The consensus seems to be it's not sufficient for a turbo. The spot to get the feed just above the engine mount (just below where you are getting it). That or a T off the pressure sender are the two places people seem to agree are best.

Nissan sixes are some of the greatest sixes ever built. Back in May 1998, I read a magazine about how people could get 450HP out of a 300ZXTT. I read about what a heated wire mass air sensor was, and knew I could work on modern cars. I looked into why the Nissan VG-series was tough right from day one. I also looked what why the GM 2.8/3.1/3.4 was trash. I also tried to find out why Nissan could share a lot of L series gasoline parts with the LD28. How did they do it when the Olds diesel shared a lot of gasoline parts, and became a dumpster fire? From what I could read, it involved having lots of head bolts and a whole lot more metal. 2:24 Could you see if it was drilled all the way? I think about how variants of engines would sometimes roll off the same assembly line with many different quirks attached, whether needed or not. From 1987 to some time in the 1990s, there were two common versions of the small block Chevy. The TBI and TPI. The TBI had a flat lifter cam and the TPI had a roller cam. However, most of the roller cam provisions were cast into the TBI. If you machined flat, drilled, and threaded certain casting bosses in the TPI, you could install the roller cam spider. It was an absolute bargain starting point for people looking to build a hot rod 350 short block. Perhaps the turbo provisions cast into the non turbo Nissan TD42 aren't completely finished. The manufacturer just wanted to cast two very similar blocks and have as many common parts as possible. 10:30 Kind of a bummer they didn't get some kind of OEM rebuild, or a new OE supplier turbo. Also, maybe get one from a higher end TD42. I have heard of people turning to another OE supplier for a match to OEM. In the VW TDI community, some people would swap a Garrett for Borg Warner or vice versa, when a certain model was in a better VW TDI variant. In the USA, it is common to replace the Borg Warner KP39 of the Jetta/Golf PD100 for the Garrett VNT17 PD130 Passat because it performs better.
@stevesplacedownunder3 ай бұрын
Hi mate thanks for watching and all the info. All very interesting. Yes it was drilled all the way through. It is a shame that it’s not OEM but the bloke that supplied it uses them and has a great reputation so im okay with it

It's good for another million if the body lasts that long. In my opinion Nissan made some of the best car and ute engines out there as long as they are serviced properly. Most after market parts I have used never fit or last as well as OEM parts but some times we have to use them. I have to use after market parts on my old Pommie tractors and sometimes they fit properly and sometimes not.
