Great idea! We see so many big layouts at shows and on KZbin videos - and we sigh, and wish that we could build something that big, but we don't have the space, and so we never start... But you are giving those of us who don't have loads of room wonderful ideas for small layouts that can be fitted into any home and any budget! Thanks once again and please keep these ideas coming! 👍

Great job Steve. It shows that switching in Z-Scale is possible. I enjoy your layout. It gives inspiration to build a similare one. Thanks.

I like the idea of putting the car cards above the spots! Are those slots you have for them on the “roof” of that building? Have you considered fridge magnets and something to stick them to on the backdrop?
@StevesTrains6 ай бұрын
I didn’t add slots, the roof is just recessed a few mm so I can use it to hold them. I didn’t plan on that, just a happy accident.

Good job in the building Z scale switching layout.

I’ve wondered how Z Scale switching would be. I’ve imagined the cars falling over all the time lol. Good to see it works well.

Can you make a 3’ x 2’ Z scale layout?
@StevesTrains6 ай бұрын
I’ll eventually do a 2x2 or 2x3 z scale, but likely not this year.
@codyrapp72536 ай бұрын
Do you think we could do the same in t scale.

That would be super small but uncoupling cars would be trouble!
@edwardstd526 ай бұрын
Fun time! Did you add weight to the cars? They look pretty solid when you were using the uncoupling tool.
@StevesTrains6 ай бұрын
You bet! Probably double their starting weight. Manual uncoupling would likely be a nightmare otherwise. Plus it is easier to couple them.

I really like the layout! If you had to take a WAG at it, how much do you think it cost, if someone were to build it, and had no supplies to start? [Not counting tools, etc]
@StevesTrains6 ай бұрын
Maybe $200-$250? not counting rolling stock and locomotive of course. Controller is the most expensive part, then the turnouts. I used clear pine and poplar, but you could use plywood or something like that for less cost there.

@@StevesTrains that's really not that bad! Awesome job

What is that tiny little cube camera ?
@StevesTrains6 ай бұрын
Some generic $20-30 camera off Amazon. However, this time and the previous time I tried to use it I couldn’t get video from it. It just shut down very quickly. Not sure if it was the camera or the micro SS card.
