Wait until you try to figure out G gauge scales. They all run on 45mm track gauge, but there are a half dozen scales. It took me a while to figure it out. I model in A scale, 1:29, because Charles Ro, (USA Trains) was close by. It's a bit like modeling OO scale, in that the gauge is a bit narrow by a few scale inches. G scale is 1:22.5 which is narrow gauge on 45mm track. Standard 4' 8 1/2" gauge is 1:32 scale and there's some of that out there, but not as much as the A scale from USA Trains which is another reason I chose that. Whew! (And then, there's the whole coupler issue, but that's another topic.)

Now you have the TT120 by Hornby (UK) 🇬🇧. The TT120 scale is in-between HO/00 scale and N gauge scale. Nice detail on the TT120 engines (locomotives) and coaches, wagons etc. I am a H0/00 scale modeller. I prefer the H0/00. Have fun and enjoy your scale models.
@greg0063 Жыл бұрын
It's funny you did it that way. The big O scale is a little switcher. The medium HO is a 4 axle GP. Then the little N scale is a 6 axle Dash something or other. It kinda minimizes the scale difference. Though it's still obvious. Couldn't tell what the Z was. Still cool either way. Also never knew there is a T scale.
N scale and ho and o scale for me but i might get into t scale

A n scale model cost around a Ho scale (depends on who make it) locomotive. N scale is amazing for people that have no room for other scales, but ho scale is better option for people who want to start the hobby.

Would it be possible to use an n scale building with a Z scale layout?
@StevesTrains5 ай бұрын
Obviously it will be too large in terms of scale, but for some structures that doesn’t always matter because it may not be obvious. Things like storage tanks or generic concrete or brick buildings without visible doors. Doors really put a scale on things and n scale doors are much bigger than z scale ones and make the mind size up a structure more than anything much of the time. Windows can too, but window sizes vary so much it is less obvious.

What scale would u use hot wheels as cars?
@StevesTrains3 ай бұрын
Hot wheels are pretty close to S scale. But, they all vary. So, some you might be able to get away using with HO scale, but most are a little too big to pass as HO yet a little too small to pass for O scale. But, if you were using them in the background in O scale they would probably work, as long as they weren't next to O scale buildings, etc, that would give away the size error.

That is very close to O scale/gauge. The heights are roughly 2/3rds of an inch for Z scale, 1” for N scale, 2” for HO, and 4” for O scale. Every locomotive will of course vary since the prototypes vary significantly.
