Al Kooper said it best: "Jimi Hendrix blazed through our lives like a fireball-supernova that most likely originated in a black hole in the middle of some uncharted universe. This was not just some Elvis or Beatle-everything about Hendrix was otherworldly. He had an understanding of sonics and how they related to music, which no human had ever conceived before. He was able to express these non-verbal expressions as blasts of feedback and warfare emulations; personal, unique grace notes that were apropos for the times in which he performed. Before his genius reached maturity (he died at age 27), all that was left were some blinking sparks in the tail of a once-in-a-lifetime comet. A true alien in his lifetime-now as an immortal-too much wasted effort is spent by others in trying to compartmentalize him."

Chaplin G The facts are that Jimi was going to leave his manager Michael Jeffries. Jeffries had a million dollar life insurance policy on Jimi's life. Jeffries was involved with the Mafia. Jeffries collected the million dollars after Jimi's death. Without Hendrix Jeffries would have been in major debt. Hendrix's autopsy showed very low alcohol in the bloodstream yet his lungs and stomach were literally full of red wine. An old Mafia way to kill someone is hold their head and empty a bottle down their throat forcefully and they drown. Jeffries confessed to the murder to one of Jimi's roadies one night when they were drinking together. There never was criminal investigation despite some big red flags in the autopsy. Jeffries died a few years later. Jimi was actually abducted by some junior Mafia guys trying to extort money, but that was resolved. Its fascinating story, Jimi knew he was going to die that year and told his best closest friends the month and year of his death. Look it up....Google....

Jimi Hendrix has influenced every single generation since he's passed, I was born in 1990, 20 years after his death, and I can say without question that Jimi shaped me as a musician and music listener. You can here is influence all over the spectrum of today's music. It sucks that he died at such an early age, with so much momentum and extra potential, but I'm glad that we live in a society today (although a messed up one), where Hendrix can be shared for free with people all around the world for years to come.

Jimi Hendrix is more than just a role model for me, it's amazing how the people that you've never met can influence you more than those in reality. It's like you met them in another world. The main reason I idolize Hendrix is because I really see myself in him - his personality, philosophy and just everything about him is paralleled to me. Hendrix has proved to people like me and others that anything is possible with a little bit of love, an instrument and a dream. R.I.P James Marshall Hendrix

It's like he made love to my soul. It was mindblowing. I mean that's what it feels like when I listen to his music but man.. it was a real trip. I'm f*ckin nuts lol but I felt so honored and lucky to have met him there because I was always so blue about how I would never be graced by this amazing mans presence. It was truly beautiful. I wish he was still in this world, he was just a beacon of pure love & light - something we desperately need but his lessons to humanity will live on as well as his wonderful stories & music, so ahead of his time. A real trailblazer.

I agree as well. That’s why I’m sitting hear listening to him. When I was 14 maybe in the mid 80’s, MTV played that old promo film that had the Monterey footage, and I was transfixed by what I heard and saw. That one simple moment changed my whole life. And not in the “I’m gonna be a guitar player now” way. It was just pure amazement and it touched my soul. It’s so much deeper that pop records and all the hype. There was SOMETHING THERE! Jimi has been a spirt animal for me since the night I discovered him. I play drums firstly, but bass and guitars as well. I’m more of a Rundgren type of musician. Liking to play multi instruments. Like Kravitz. I’m that type. But Hendrix is always with me when I make music. Like no other musician ever. Peace and love! I loved what you wrote above. Inspired me! Thank you

Individual expression is personified in the musical performances of Jimi Hendrix. It seems to be difficult to be truly original today or am I just getting old? Jimi Hendrix never got old and never will. His music lives on and is appreciated by people today. The energy in his music is what makes it unique.

It's kinda sad to hear how many ideas and Plans he still had stuck in his head, but wasn't able to make them happen, because he died. Imagine how his music would have been evolved when he just had lived a few years longer. Rest in Peace you legend.

I miss you Jimi. There was so much more to come. You were looking to a new direction. You were transitioning into another phase of music that would have left us all spellbound. You wanted to do big and small. You wanted to do what you had always done....experiment. Having been with Jimi at the beginning in the UK, and having followed him to most gigs, his loss can only be described as the musical loss of a generation. Truly gifted, for this loss I wept. May God bless you Jimi.

This was definitely one of the better interviews of Jimi that I've heard. Most of the other ones were full of rather ludicrous questions. This interviewer was relaxed and thoughtful and Jimi's responses reflected this. I really enjoyed listening to this...but the end clip of "Jimi died 7 days after this interview" really bummed me out. What a complete waste. At least we have a legacy of his words and music. It could have been so much more had he lived.

I can't imagine what classic music covers would sound like if Jimi lived longer to cover it. Wagner, Bach, Beethoven and Mozart and Jimi playing it full tilt would of been beyond incredible.

I think your on to something Jimi takes classical
@Albrecht777 Жыл бұрын
@@artistaccount Jimi loved Wagner, Strauss and Beethoven, amongst others. He had been speaking about working with an orchestra and choir since 1968. It's such a shame that he never got to do it. One of his biggest interests was attempting to get the older and younger generations to understand each other more. Some of the songs for what would have become "First Rays of the Rising Sun" hint at this. Had he turned his hand to integrating classical music into (one or some of) his projects, I think that it would have been under this aegis. That also would have been ground-breaking and would have pre-dated later music which tried to do likewise.
@d2dar459 Жыл бұрын
@@Albrecht777 Didn't he wanna do some kinda jazz/classical fusion project at one point?
@Albrecht777 Жыл бұрын
@@d2dar459 I don't think that he ever voiced any wish to do a jazz / classical fusion project specifically. However, it wouldn't surprise me if something like that had materialised at some point. He had already integrated so many sounds and styles into his music, such as rock, blues, experimental, country, jazz, funk, folk and more. He mentioned keeping the three-piece combo at the same time as he was talking about expanding to use other musicians in different contexts. As such, I suspect that he would have devoted himself to various projects in a multitude of areas concurrently.

Jimi is such a gentle soul and spoke with a humble eloquence. I love how he doesn't take offense to some of the interviewers questions. He just laughs and is comfortable with who he is & communicates that in such a chilled, laid-back manner. I wish he was still here physically with us. Thank God for his phenomenal, mesmerizing, music & these treasured videos and interviews, so we can feel his presence here with us. Also, @ 17:06 where we hear him light his match is so cool!

If Jimi were still alive, he would have possibly changed the world. I love his songs. I mostly only play his songs. The first electric guitar song I learned was Purple Haze. Best soloist with an electric guitar. Talent and wisdom. Best role model.
@samlsmithmusic Жыл бұрын
My addition to understanding Hendrix is: stop thinking about the licks, the speed, or the scales. He has nothing to do with technicality. It’s purely about sound and what it can do to your emotions. Jimi Hendrix could probably play a bongo with more emotional accuracy than anyone-he chose the guitar to display his incredibly verbose soul and our takeaway should not be to play faster or more “out” but to use sound to say something beyond vocabulary. This is a master of modernity and sound who used a guitar to speak.

I tend to agree, jimi and his band mates seemed to discover deeply intuitive and sometimes wonderfully simple music. I'm thinking of 'who knows', 'message to love' but there are many examples. Someone once said it's as primitive as it is futuristic. I think his message and example to follow extend beyond music, teaching us to trust the content of our own character in whatever we do. I'm very grateful to have grown up listening to Jimi, Mitch, Noel, Buddy and Billy. Thier recordings are among my favourites and are unfailingly humanising. Best wishes.

For over 40 years, I have admired, been influenced, fascinated, been fanatic, and at one time papered my whole room with Jimi's pictures and images. (which back then there was no internet, MTV, or instant gratification). I really do not think many people understand that "the world's greatest" or "the best guitarist" or "best this or that" is all relative. Jimi (and many others too) influences a LOT of us to pick up the guitar (bass, drums, or whatever). If you do not like someone, then skip over it and go to something you do like (IF there is such a thing). It's one thing to express an opinion, however, one of the most idiotic things I EVER read in my life was when someone noted "I really like this, but I wanted to be the first person to give it a 'thumbs down'" It seems a lot of people today are so screwed up, it is like peer-pressure in reverse! Maybe their mama didn't love them enough. (or maybe she just dropped them on their head too many times). Thanks for posting this sad, but very real interview.
