I been using this bible since 2019, its easy to read, you actually learn a lot through study notes and articles which are done by faithful intelligent men of God. It smells really good too if you care. Rarely they restate the scripture in the notes or expound on obvious themes, the study notes are very useful and they chose to stay quite and let the word do the talking on gnarly stuff. Definitely good stuff and nice format, its a pleasure to use. I have to add the people behind this book are Spirit filled people who understand the connections in the Scriptures and teach really deep stuff that you can yourself understand via comparing scripture to scripture.

You should check out the 'Defending the Faith study Bible' a NKJV apologetics study bible put out by Apologetics Press, its the best and its over 2400 pages and dual ribbon markers. it comes in hardcover, italian duotone, and leather.

I like the CSB i think a good way to describe the translations is a more conservative NIV style translation

As a young man living in a secular culture and with no true christian and most people hostile to Christ, i'm in deep need of this Bible to defend the faith and to keep my faith up and unshaken. There are no great bargains right now on the Worldview one anyway, and the Cyber Sale is only on selected bibles, but I actually found four good looking ones that were deeply discounted. I am also interested in the Student version of the Apologetics bible with my sons in mind, as there are very good deals on that one too.

There are books that can be added to your library that will certainly help with that. And I’ll cover how that works in the review. Basically you can Taylor your “library” of books/resources to what you need and what you’re studying

I'm curious as to how they translated Acts 2:38. Did they translate Greek work eis as "for" forgiveness of sins or "because of" forgiveness of sins?

Well I’d have to ask you to define “ normal Christian” for me. But every a Christian is an apologist and told to be able to give a defense for the hope that Is in us. The commentary in this particular bible can help us do that.

If you're asking if it has a sewn binding the answer is yes, all regular holman apologetics study bibles have a sewn binding. I didn't look at the student editions but I'd imagine they do as well. If you go to christianbook.com and scroll down to product information it usually tells you if it is or isn't a sewn binding. The sewn bindings tend to lay flat and are the most durable.

It lays flat on table. I been using it since 2019 and i recommend it. No lukewarm or heresy nonsense in this bible, i have grown a lot ever since i started using it.

Is the gender neutrality thing a hermeneutical problem here?

Good question. It's definitely a grammatical problem. Which annoys a lot of folks. Cause you can't just go changing words around in english with out changing the whole sentence and paragraph structure. But a hermeneutical problem. I'd say most likely not. in most cases. Cause if you're doing true deep hermeneutics...you're doing word studies in the greek or hebrew and the meaning (say between man...male...and man...mankind) is pretty evident. While I don't personally agree with gender neutrality...in a strictly hermeneutical sense...I don't personally think it's a problem. Just my opinion. But if you're going to gender nuteralize the words they have....how long will it be will they gender neutralize the Terms God uses for himself. Cause they're all male...but in reality...He is not male. So it's kinda a slippery slope (again...IMO)

@@ClaimingChristianity well, maybe I expressed myself awkwardly. I think that gender neutrality is good there, where it was meant to be, but for the lack of the appropriate word they used masculine. But to use neutral expressions everywhere ... I wouldn't buy the book. And yes, let jewish theologians say what they want, but God is male in spiritual sense.
