#Fordtractor The leaking steering valve needs to be taken care of if I have any hope of using this tractor. With a little trail and error, I manage to get the TRW Ross Parker Hydraguide out of the tractor before the snow flies.

Hey Steve, greetings from Ontario Canada. I just discovered your channel while searching for how to fix my 3500. Great content and entertainment for those of us that are into this sort of stuff. I admire your perseverance and positive attitude. I would have sworn a thousand times and probably thrown my tools half way across the yard. Watching you has inspired me 'somewhat' to attempt my fix. - I say somewhat only because I know what a pain its going to be, and that I will be swearing a thousand times, while looking for my tools halfway across the yard. that is real hydraulic steering. not power assist. very cool. hope the parts are available. many for my old Kubota are not. so I need to make stuff.

I just bought a 1962 6000. It’s not even in my possession yet but I’m reading all the bad stuff about it. I hope I don’t regret it.

I used to want a 6000. I still think they are one of the coolest looking Ford tractors. The 6000 started out with one of the greatest ideas, a transmission that would let you shift on the fly, allowing you to change ground speed without having to stop the machine. Sort of like what a modern hydrostatic transmission lets you do, but the Select o speeds in the fords were actual gear transmissions. The problem arose when the powerful diesel engines proved to be too much torque on those parts. Many say earlier gas versions lasted longer, and I even heard that later production runs had diesels that were setup with lower rpms on the governor to help the transmission last longer. Sure, you lost a little hp, but at least the tractor wasn't dead in the field. By the way, did you know that the earliest 6000's were red? around '63 they went to the blue color scheme. My tractor has the 2 stick regular manual 8 speed transmission, making it very reliable. They did offer the select o speed 10 speed the 6000 had in the 5000, but i think they were less problematic because of the lower hp of the 5000's diesel. (3.8 litre in the 5000 vs the 4.0 litre in the 6000).

@@stevewatr I appreciate your channel, just wished I would of read up a little more before my purchase. It says it’s a 1962 but it’s already a blue scheme. I wonder if there is red underneath that paint. I’m supposed to go pick it up next week. I’m excited but worried at the same time. Wish me luck 🍀

You should just advise people to take a picture of schematics before disassemble.
