Need new shifter boots on top of transmission if keep out side or under a lean tune shed will get water in it from outside air in the winter.

You can reroute that power steering reservoir to the side with steel lines. We did it with our Ford 3000. The parts are equally priced.

Found the felt seal for my Ford 6600 on ebay. Happy to share the vendor if you are interested. Also, while waiting on the seal to arrive I flipped the felt seal and tightened it just a little more and that slowed the leak considerably.

Always pre oil filters, even ones that mount horizontal. Cast iron tractor cases always form condensation so Change oil atleast once every year. Moisture builds up. Water in oil no bueno.the last four owners of that tractor also looked at changing the hyd. oil filter and like you, "I'll do it later"...... Nice video 👍

I need to do the same thing to my 4000. I like that lip on your adapter. I don't have one and get oil all over the side of the block.

It makes filter changes much cleaner. Something could be make with some scrap pieces of sheet metal
@3sparewashers-lg3gf10 ай бұрын
If you already have a spin on filter, take a sharp punch and hammer a hole into the bottom of the end of the oil filter. Drains out the filter, no mess. You’re replacing it anyway.
@matthewdahs39934 ай бұрын
You should Fill oil filters up so it doesn't run dry when you start the tractor fill it up halfway

Mark, I also have the same issue with a leaking steering box on my ford 5000. On the steering arm shaft there are two seals on that side. One is C5NN3C615B, which is a rubber oil seal and there is a dust seal, C5NN3528A. Hope that helps ya out.

Good video Mark. I've never tried this but from what I've seen you can put diesel in the cases, run around the yard for a few minutes and then drain it to clean sludge and gunk out. Pete from Just A Few Acres Farm did it on one of his rebuilds...think it was his Farmall MD. I have to redo the power steering on my 5000...I fill up the reservoir and it empties in about 30 seconds when running...I know what the problem is, I just don't look forward to it!

Thanks! That sounds like a good trick, using diesel to wash the sump. I'll that some day!

In the UK we filled the gearbox a gallon of parafin and drove it for a few minutes & then drained it.

Good idea to clean the gearbox

You should use diesel oil to wash out the milky sludge not brake cleaner,,put 2 gal in the gearbox and run the tractor for a few minutes ,,It will do no harm as diesel has good lubricity,,

I would have drained the trans and the hydrolic with the water, thein filled with diesel and a little oil and run it for a while and work the hydrolic then drain it out to clean the milky fluid THEN fill with the appropiate fluids, to clean all the muck and sluge out !!! Saves wasting expensive oils !!

I believe if u pull the top cover, under the seat, u cn access the hyd. Filter, and or screen. Still a pain, but less work than pulling brake pedal arm's, step's, and clutch arm.

Great video . I have just bought one, but it has no grill to protect the radiator in the front. Where can I get or make a one, and what material should I use ? I have a small link on the steering wheel oil junction How can I solve it ? Mine is an 1975 Ford 5000 I am from Portugal, Europe .

Hello Mark, I have a County Ford with a 5000 backend. I currently have gear oil in my gearbox and Tractor oil in my rear end. The gearbox and rear end do not have a common reservoir do they ?
@marktolman60377 ай бұрын
I am not familiar with a County Ford, but with my Ford 5000 there is a separate reservoir for the transmission and the rear axle/hydraulic.

It's not that big of a job. Only thing that needs to come off is the break pedals and the foot rest. Then the pump can come off. It's like a 2-3 hour job is all.
