In most states it’s actually legal for a 22yo to be with a 17yo. Back when I was a teenager living in DE, at 16 years old it’s legal to date someone up to 10 years older than you as long as they’re not in a position of authority. Idk if that’s still the law but it was only about 9 years ago I learned of that so I doubt it’s changed.

Yup. I came from a family like this. Ended up marrying the full grown man who was almost a decade older than me that I had been groomed by since I was in 8th grade. Moved into an apartment with him at 16. Married at 18. Pregnant with my first 6 months later, miscarried, got pregnant again when I was 19. He left me when I was six months pregnant. My daughter is almost 10. He’s never seen her. Been married to a wonderful man and had a son. Cut off all of my family and pulled the roots out. I pray she’s able to heal one day.

I didn’t need babysitters when I was in teenage years because i was fine being home alone because I was almost becoming an adult! Also, this is what happen when parents are not there when a babysitter is grooming a child and molesting a child behind close doors! It happened to me at age 15 when the father of my two younger brothers molested me and made me watch porn with him in my room and I kept that secret for 10 years until I told my mom about it and after that, we never see him again forever! Luckily, my brothers are not affected by him. I’m now 34 and still going strong!

That’s why in some states, the law protects girls that age. In some instances, they look like women. They have adult urges. What they don’t have sometimes is common sense and the ability to comprehend long term consequences. This girl has no idea what she’s going to lose out on in life. He groomed her, plain and simple. He was close to the family and used that. He made her think he was a friend. He let his place be somewhere she could come if she skipped school and he didn’t tell her parents. It’s all part of it. This wasn’t a case of he didn’t know her age. He knew exactly what he was doing.
