Love both of them, thanks for sharing this. I’d read the story before about how she wrote Stand Back and was inspired by LRC, but hearing and seeing the story straight from her is just lovely. 💜

Stevie was not at Sunset Recording Studios when Prince laid those keyboards. She had stepped out. When she got back, he was gone. Not sure why she is telling this version now.

She says that "When Doves Cry" is inspired by her song "Edge Of Seventeen". I'm an audio engineer and a musician, and I'll tell you honestly, I don't hear any similarities in those tunes at all! Is she telling the truth? Or is she just tryin' to pull a fast one on her audience?

LOL. The White Winged Doves are also the crying doves. it’s lyric-based inspiration.

@@emilyr7511 The mourning dove's 5-noted call is sad and mournful, giving this common bird its name. I'm not sure if those are the same as white-winged doves. As I know a lot about bird calls, I'm not sure the two dove species have the same call.
