The story goes that "Little Red Corvette" by Prince was playing on the radio and Stevie was inspired to write this song to the beat of that Prince tune. She called Prince and told him what she'd done and he agreed to come in to the studio and record the synth parts for "Stand Back." He also says he programmed the drums because Stevie and Jimmy Iovine (her producer) weren't conversant with drum machines. Stevie split the song royalties with Prince 50/50.

100% however, while it was inspired by her hearing "Little Red Corvette" for the first time, you left out that she wrote this song as her cheeky/but sincere response to Prince's song. Art inspires art. Who better than to respond to Prince than the goddess Stevie Nicks.😊

She's had me mesmerized since I was a 15 yr. old kid and still does! I love her style through the years and always said I wished I could shop in her closet. Everything about her says Gypsy and I love it!

I recommend her live performance of "Rhiannon" from her White Wing Dove tour 1981. I've seen her 3 times in concert in 1991, 1998 and 2016.

Oh wow a lot of people don't know, that this particular performance was during the rock alittle tour, you wouldn't know but Stevie was so far gone at this point with her addiction, you can see in this performance we're there was cuts when she had to rerecord and edit the hell out of this whole concert, the drugs completely took over by then Jimmy Iovine and stop producing her work and left her, it wasn't fun anymore and Stevie knew it. So after this exact concert she checked into The Betty Ford Clinic and got herself sober, just to start a new 8 year cycle of Klonopin use.. This woman was not supposed to be alive, she lived that rock and roll life and thank God she survived and still out there performing to this day... Rock and roll hall of famer 2x over.. With Fleetwood Mac and her Solo career. ❤❤❤❤

This song was produced by Prince. That’s why it sounds so 80s.

Nope. Jimmy Iovine was the producer. Stevie Nicks wrote "Stand Back" when "Little Red Corvette" came on the radio, so it was inspired by Prince's song. The track was 90-95% finished, and Stevie called Prince to ask him to stop by the studio to take a listen. He did. Then he added two of the synth lines. Although he's not credited, Stevie shared 50% of the publishing rights with him. A few years ago, not long after he passed, she told one of her audiences that she regretted never playing the song live with him.

I highly recommend her song “Beauty & the Beast” from her solo album “The Wild Heart” & no it’s not the Disney version, it’s so much better than that!! 🎤♥️🎶 I was lucky enough to see her on her “Wild Heart” tour in Knoxville TN 1983!!! Amazing show that I will never forget!!
