John Mayer said about how Stevie Ray Vaughan influenced him, “The first guitar influence when I was about 13. The moment I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan I thought, ‘Wow - that’s the thing that’s not just strumming chords!’ I heard him on a mixtape that a neighbour had given me. It had SRV on one side and Robert Cray on the other.”

This entire 1989 Austin City Limits show is astounding. Please please watch, from this same concert, Riviera Paradise. The studio version is wonderful but this live performance is incredibly moving, especially since he was gone so soon afterward. Thanks for your reaction as always!

You know a reactor has hit a new level when their facial expression on great playing changes from looking like someone who's impressed with what they *see* and *hear,* to looking like they are directly *experiencing* the emotional state the sound is conveying, almost as though they are listening to a lyric.

John Mayer actually inducted Stevie Ray Vaughan posthumously into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame and Stevie’s band double trouble along with John Mayer performed Stevie songs to dedicate to him! John Mayer was actually devastated when Stevie died because Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of his idols! RIP SRV

John Mayer said that Stevie made him want to play guitar. How about something from SRV & Double Trouble at El Mocambo that you don’t usually hear? Like “Testify”, “So Excited”, “Tell Me”, or different versions of “Mary Had A Little Lamb” or “Voodoo Chile”?

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness John was most definitely inspired by Stevie. So much so that he was part of Stevie's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's not a stretch to say that most guitarists, from the 90's to today, were inspired by Stevie.

You should do the hilarious music video SRV and Double Trouble put together that is a spoof on Stevie's obsession with guitars. In it the action centers on his "wife" in the video getting jealous. It's all done to the "Cold Shot" track. You'll really enjoy it, especially if you do it close after the live "Cold Shot." performance.

This performance is as usual awesome but you would love the music video the comedy is so funny and it shows is comic side 😂 😂 I think you would really like Tightrope. John Mayer actually inducted Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, he said Stevie Ray inspired him and when Stevie Ray talked about his sobriety John Mayer said he wanted to be like his hero and never touched a drug or alcohol because of Stevie Ray. Just before Stevie Ray was killed he recorded an album with his brother Jimmie Vaughan called Family Style, after his death Jimmie made a video and dedicated to Stevie Ray called Tic-Tock, Stevie Ray is singing and the beautiful message is something we all need to hear. The video to watch is a picture of Jimmie and Stevie Ray sitting in the studio, Jimmie shows home movies of him and Stevie Ray around 6-7 yrs old and videos of Stevie Ray's performances. It is soooo worth a listen I promise you will love it.

Reese Wynans, the keyboardist, also played in the predecessor band that became the Allman Brothers Band. "Wynans was a member of the Second Coming, which from November, 1968 to March, 1969 included two future and founding members of The Allman Brothers Band: guitarist Dickey Betts and bassist Berry Oakley. Other band members were Dale Betts, Larry Reinhardt, and John Meeks. Wynans was involved in the initial jam session with Duane Allman, Betts, Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jaimoe that led to the formation of the Allman Brothers Band, but was eased aside in favor of vocalist Gregg Allman, as founder Duane Allman did not want two keyboardists, two guitarists, and two drummers all in the same band".

Boot-scootin' music... but as compelling as this music, Austin City Limits had VERY strict "do not move or else" commandments to their audience. The reason is that their only had old old TV cameras with numerous and huge cables that was virtual guarantees for walking-fans to trip and fall, maybe damaging the irreplaceable cameras. Being a public-TV station, KLRU simply had no choice but demand the audience stay seated. No restroom breaks until certain points of the show, and therefore restrictions on refreshments, too. They finally joined the 20th Century in the 1990s but there are heavy debates on which programs they maintained on precious, one-copy-only videotape. They saved a few of the most famous, but there were hundreds of great shows that are still unreleased. "All of those artists have died - why stir up interest in them now?" Du-uh...
