I was there at the EL Macambo gig on July 11th 1983. I can tell you, That version was a great version!... I also like this version in Tokyo... One of the great attribute's this man had was he could play the same song at different times, And give it a different twist everytime he played that particular song. I was fortunate enough to see Stevie Ray and Double Trouble play six times in their career.

I just love his patience. Not worried about how many notes he can fit in a riff. His transitions are genius. Everything is complete "feel." No dynamics, no muddy distortion, no shitty guitar with active pick-ups. Just him and the texas strat standing in front of the world. There will never be another player like him.

Thanks Jessrama For your comment I am a fortunate man! To have seen Stevie Ray and Double Trouble play as many times as I did and too have also purchased all of his records when they were originally released and too have been an adult during the time of his life and career. It sounds like a fairy tale to you! And I can understand why. Seeing your profile and that you are only 24 years old I can understand why you said something wonderful and O OF R believe me Stevie Ray and his band playing was.

I just commented on a Joe Bonamassa song and like I commented got some whiskey down my throat listening to blues, I'm a blues lover, but one thing I got to say, please no negative comment, we all have our own opinion and taste, but I love Clapton but when I get to SRV man... It's a whole different story. I mean Clapton had all his life and til now to prove himself to be God but imagine SRV was still alive. My man he would have become something unstoppable. I mean come on, he's a whole next level and his short period just proved it and imagine if he was still alive. I just thank God that life is amazing! No matter what, once you're good at what you do you become a legend and it's like you're still alive and that is you Stevie!!! Hit many souls and influence many musicians to never give up and just keeping the blues alive.

how can millions view a Justin Bieber video but only 81,000 view this masterpiece of a performance by an eternal musical legend? We are all doomed! SRV was bare bones and brilliant, I truly regret never getting to see him perform. With the possible exception of a young B.B. King or Hubert Sumlin, no one played with more emotion

This VDO is here to tell you SRV is unmatched in his style, technique or feel..and I am here to tell you Jimi would be the first guy to say this is the finest electric blues player who ever lived, knowing he himself never came close to SRV's special take on the blues. You will not find one VDO anywhere showing Jimi playing so fluently, expressively..because he never did. Jimi wrote great songs, gave us fine new licks..but he was nowhere as accomplished as Stevie was. RIP SRV and RIP Jimi.

He gave us all that he had in his playing. Dynamite comes in little packages. I saw them in the summer 87. The owners of the Colluseum in Ft Wayne wouldnt turn the ac on, and it didnt seem to bug the band even though he commented on the heat. I figured it was hotter in Texas, so it was like he felt bad for us. The whole room was ringing wet but we got their best. A lot more soul poured out than sweat. The crew kept changing his rigs for him in the middle of a tune! Never missed a lick. While all eyes were on Stevie, Chris chain smoked while Tommy stood turned to the drum riser and they were having a conversation! Reese was so laid back, I dont think he opened his eyes the whole time. But they werent showing off. It was just relaxed as hell. The Allman Bros kicked ass as well. On the way home, we were so thirsty, we hit the first bar we found. After asking for a 6 pack to go, the bartender really said, " You boys aint from around here, are ya?" ( theres no carry out on Sun in IN) We told him where we had been, and he says," You can stay and have one." That bar keep and the roomful of patrons never saw a couple of skinny kids from Ohio drink two beers so fast! We had to go because we had left our pal in the car! A great night Ill never forget.
