SRV and Stevie Wonder were good friends. Stevie Wonder loved that Stevie Ray sang this song. Stevie Wonder also spoke and sang "Amazing Grace" at SRV's funeral. People were in tears. It was a beautiful tribute....

As a guitar player, I love to listen to talented players for inspiration, and to learn their techniques. But as a musician and music fan I listen to everything and the one thing you can't learn as a player is PASSION. You either have it or you don't. As a pure blues player SRV is the GOAT. But not just because of his technical prowess, but because of his PASSION. Every time he picked up the guitar, he BROUGHT IT. Thank you J for your reactions, and for your passionate love of great music.🙏

“I use heavy strings , tune low, play hard and floor it. Floor it, That's technical talk.” - Stevie Ray
@joeday4293
@joeday4293 4 жыл бұрын
I can't remember which guitarist it was, but I remember reading an interview with someone who played Stevie's guitar, and asked him about the insane gauge of strings he used. He said Stevie got a sheepish look and said, "Yeah, man, I know. I'd use heavier ones, but, you know, I've got small hands." As though it was a criticism! I'll bet that sonofabitch could have broken a piece of railroad steel in half with one hand.

I remember waking up to this news when my alarm went off in the morning. I was working in construction at the time before fall semester and was just absolutely floored. My buddy showed up to drive in to the site together and had the same look I had; just looking empty and defeated. Both huge Stevie Ray and Double Trouble fans. Still hurts, what a tragedy.

It was at the very beginning of my freshman year of college. For two weeks in a row, something awful happened on Tuesday. The first week, a draft scare went through the dorm, because Operation Desert Storm was going on. The next Tuesday, the news about Stevie Ray came. We were all terrified of what would happen to Tuesday after that, but thank God, nothing did. Losing him was one of the most crushing celebrity deaths I've ever dealt with. What a loss.

This song was originally written for Jeff Beck. Beck was doing session work for Stevie and during a break Stevie caught Jeff fooling around on the drums and loved the beat. So he wrote Superstition around it intending to give it to Jeff. He ended up releasing his own version before Jeff's came out and it was a massive hit.

But if choosing a cover song, I can suggest good ones but could not pick a better one than this. Nice choice. Had the pleasure of seeing Stevie Ray shortly before he died. This was the 2nd song he did and the one I was most looking forward to. What a shame that so many super-talented people die so young.

SRV is one of my favorite all-time guitarists... Eric Clapton and Eddie Van Halen are my two favorites, but SRV is a very very close second. Blues guitar 🎸 players sound so crisp and soulful, it’s hard not to get emotional whenever a great blues guitar player is working their craft. Bonnie Raitt and B.B. King are two of my other favs. Thanks a lot for doing this one Jamel...I thoroughly enjoyed it. ✌🏻

SRV was the best and he still lives in us :) The best thing we can do is to continue his wishes and help others to stop using drugs and to educate others and to help them by mentoring. King was his Godfather and King didn't ask for it. He knew to do it because he saw. Albert King took SRV into himself because SRV had the guts to want it and he became a great one we all miss :(

This is the song that got me into Stevie. 15 years old watching his Austin City Limits on PBS in a motel on vacation. I turned on the TV for a second. Ended up watching the whole dam thing. Never heard anyone like him.

I so love Stevie Ray Vaughan. He died after doing the concert with Eric Clapton in my home town of East Troy Wisconsin. We were a Podunk town of about 1000 people at the time and the Amphitheatre held I believe 50000 because of all the grass seats.
