As a guitar player, I love to listen to talented players for inspiration, and to learn their techniques. But as a musician and music fan I listen to everything and the one thing you can't learn as a player is PASSION. You either have it or you don't. As a pure blues player SRV is the GOAT. But not just because of his technical prowess, but because of his PASSION. Every time he picked up the guitar, he BROUGHT IT. Thank you J for your reactions, and for your passionate love of great music.🙏

“I use heavy strings , tune low, play hard and floor it. Floor it, That's technical talk.” - Stevie Ray
@joeday42934 жыл бұрын
I can't remember which guitarist it was, but I remember reading an interview with someone who played Stevie's guitar, and asked him about the insane gauge of strings he used. He said Stevie got a sheepish look and said, "Yeah, man, I know. I'd use heavier ones, but, you know, I've got small hands." As though it was a criticism! I'll bet that sonofabitch could have broken a piece of railroad steel in half with one hand.

It was at the very beginning of my freshman year of college. For two weeks in a row, something awful happened on Tuesday. The first week, a draft scare went through the dorm, because Operation Desert Storm was going on. The next Tuesday, the news about Stevie Ray came. We were all terrified of what would happen to Tuesday after that, but thank God, nothing did. Losing him was one of the most crushing celebrity deaths I've ever dealt with. What a loss.
