"He no droppa da pick...he fixa da pedals"! What is so impressive about this very difficult song is, he's playing rhythm and lead all throughout!

Lead and rhythm and found the space to even play it with his own blues licks and keeping that Hendrix integrity throughout. So incredibly hard to do. Master of his instrument as well as his music no one better

The guitar Stevie Ray is playing he bought from Ray Henney's Guitar Shop, it actually belonged to a singer named Christopher Cross. Stevie Ray called Ray and asked if he had any guitars come in and Ray told him " I have an old beat up guitar but Stevie you have money let's buy a new one and we can fix it up like you want" Stevie Ray said he'd be in to see it ,came in and bought it. Ray had it fixed the way he wanted it the rest is history. Ray said no matter how big Stevie got he didn't spend money. STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN WILL ALWAYS BE THE GOAT

Wow, I had no idea that that guitar used to belong to Christoper Cross! I loved his music back in the 70's, and a couple of his songs are still on my playlists today. Was that the guitar that Stevie nicknamed his "first wife"? 😅
@sylviapotter63282 жыл бұрын
He was adjusting his wah-pedal that was actually Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Vaughan Stevie Ray's brother's band The Fabulous Thunderbirds were playing on the same bill as Jimi Hendrix and Jimi Hendrix gave his wah-pedal to Jimmy Vaughan who gave it to Stevie. Alot of people think Stevie dropped something when he does that, Stevie kept his guitar picks taped to the side of his mic so he had them right there if he needed one.

🤠 Stevie didn't drop picks; he was adjusting knobs on his foot effects pedal (wah-wah that once belonged to Jimi Hendrix.) I saw him perform live over a dozen times and never saw him lose a pick, but he loved adjusting things (amps, etc...) while he played. Perfectionist! 👍🎸🔥

Dude he dropped the pick, you’re full of shit! In fact he did it twice in this performance. The wah-wah peddle is just that...a peddle!
@johnenglish19552 жыл бұрын
@@williamcabell142 🤠 Well William, obviously you're not a guitar player like some of us. Most foot effects pedals have adjustment control knobs on them for volume, tone, etc... Also, if you were standing 5 feet away from Stevie while he played at Antone's Blues Club in Austin like I was in 1986 you would have seen him adjust said knobs on said pedal. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, I was in the audience for this exact performance of Stevie on Austin City Limits because I worked in the same Communications Building on the University of Texas campus where the show was recorded. (No picks were dropped.) I'm trying to be nice and take the high road with you because that's what Stevie would want me to do. I hope you have a blessed day and keep rockin' with SRV! 👍🎸
@johnenglish19552 жыл бұрын
@@harrietmiller3982 🤠 Thanks Harriet! 👍 If you read my reply to William Cabell I tried to spell it out to him in as nice a way possible. Speaking of spelling, it's PEDAL, not "peddle." I don't think Stevie was trying to sell trinkets door-to-door! 😂 Anyway, I don't mind if people disagree with me as long as they don't say I'm "full of shit." 😂 Especially when I was there in person and saw everything with my own eyes, even the stuff the TV camera angles don't show! 👍🎸💙

thanks, G&T: bit of a tribute to Jimi Hendrix... first time I saw this I thought he was "dropping his pick" then realized, he has extras on the mic stand, and some smart person informed me that he was switching his guitar modes... usually done with a foot, but he had to be particular.. lol... RIP SRV - never heard anything like him... hope you react to more!
