He didn't forget actually. This was the first time he sang this in tribute to Michael Jackson and he started to cry mid-song and had to regain his composure so he could finish the song. It was a very difficult thing to do and he should be applauded, not laughed at.

Actually I watch the concert and they're not laughing. And also I would believe and assume I'm not saying this is correct I'm just making a educated guess anyway Stevie Wonder cries because his friend Michael Jackson died and also loses his first tribute supposedly what people say this is his first tribute to Michael Jackson. Stevie misses him so he's crying.

Well, doesn't make me cry, but it sent shivers down my spine. You can see that he has very deep feelings while singing this song. And Michael's death was just too much to take for the man, like losing a brother. Jacko was always part of my childhood, he will always be one of my all time favorites.

Poor Stevie, he was trying to hold it, I remember when Usher did Gone Too Soon at the Memorial I was crying like a baby, when MJ died a big piece of my childhood died all I remembered growing up was MJ, James Brown, Stevie Wonder and The Winans because my parents played their music all the time.

I'll never forget this performance. When I first saw it, it hadn't quite set in that Michael Jackson had died. But when I saw Stevie cry, that's when it really dawned on me that the King of Pop was gone. I miss Michael too. RIP

I saw him during his Songs in the Key of Life tour this past year. He started the show like 2 hours late, but told the crowd it was because one of his band members was found unconscious in his hotel room. Stevie was emotional the whole concert, and in the middle of Joy Inside My Tears he started crying. You could feel the emotion everywhere in the stadium. It was truly a special concert.

Wow, that’s tough. Just shows how dedicated his fans are. You and everyone else there I’m sure would’ve made it so you were comforting him and his band rather then the usual him comforting everyone else by performing. He’s a true legend, when his time comes I don’t know what the word will do. We already lost MJ, if we lose him before he’s due to go (which should be never), then music will be never the same again

People can say whatever they want about Michael Jackson or Stevie Wonder but the fact is they were/are phenomenally talent performs who didn't hide or hold anything back onstage. There's a lesson in that for other "artists" to take heed of. I'll never forget seeing this and being reminded why I took up an instrument in the first place.

What a heartbreaking moment there. Such an upbeat song, but Stevie's feelings of loss for his friend were still too raw. I can't take seeing Stevie so sad! But it was such a powerful human moment, too. Great job pulling himself back together as well, as emotional as he was.

Stevie Wonder is a bundle of pure love & joy & genius. Probably one of the few humans who could possibly relate to MJ who had magical gifts as a young child [as did "Little Stevie Wonder"] & was also put to work by Motown as a child & did dozen of shows all over the US every year & worked & worked & worked & worked some more. No wonder [no pun intended] Stevie was heartbroken when he lost his "baby brother" .
