Stevie Wonder represents the greatest synthesis of all of the greatest composers, songwriters, poets, and authors of every genre of all time. It’s Beethoven, Schubert, Duke Ellington, Shakespeare, the blues, the Bible and the black church all wrapped up together as one message.

If you aren’t a singer, you have to realize how many different techniques Stevie uses here in this performance. This song is EXTREMELY difficult to sing. Generally if you have the range that Stevie has, you don’t have the power and if you have the power you don’t have the range. Guy is a FREAKING. GENIUS. Just an absolute flawless performance and guy was doing like 250-300 shows a year at this time of his life, and still managed to blow the absolute top of of this difficult vocal. I Didn’t even get to his piano playing, geez it’s always phenomenal. What a master.

He's incredible...only years into my own singing and RETURNING to his performances did I realize how difficult it is, because he makes it sound like just like it's nothing.

This is a mindblowing performance,even better than the studio version. He's a God
@smurf9022 жыл бұрын
@@danieleb6863 the sustaining at the end has such a nearly cosmic effect on the mic, it's like it's just at the edge of distortion from being so rich and powerful. And yet opens it up and then releases and STILL closes the vowel, which is super hard to do yet it's all within his control. Also the notes he just riffs to above the original melody that he doesn't sustain are like stratospheric that aren't even strained or anything. It's like his range at this point was limitless. There was a point mid-70s where Streisand also did some live stuff that seems nearly impossible. It's like what someone would imagine they could do if their entire range was accessible from belting and never having to flip into head.

Idk why people took this on joke. His former girlfriend Syreeta Wright used some very lookalike hairdo in the early 70’s, maybe they weren’t together in 1980, but Stevie love that feeling of hair. Suddenly Stevie started to feel more open to dress in hair something different. But yes, Stevie is the best we’ve known. (In that period of time)

Lately, I have had the strangest feeling With no vivid reason here to find Yet the thought of losing you's been hanging 'Round my mind Far more frequently, you're wearing perfume With you say no special place to go But when I ask, "Will you be coming back soon?" You don't know, never know Well, I'm a man of many wishes Hope my premonition misses But what I really feel my eyes won't let me hide 'Cause they always start to cry 'Cause this time could mean goodbye Lately, I've been staring in the mirror Very slowly picking me apart Trying to tell myself I have no reason With your heart Just the other night while you were sleeping I vaguely heard you whisper someone's name But when I ask you of the thoughts you're keeping You just say nothing's changed Well, I'm a man of many wishes I hope my premonition misses But what I really feel my eyes won't let me hide 'Cause they always start to cry 'Cause this time could mean goodbye, goodbye Oh, I'm a man of many wishes I hope my premonition misses But what I really feel my eyes won't let me hide 'Cause they always start to cry 'Cause this time could mean goodbye

KC & Jo Jo version at MTV unplugged in 1992. The 3:00 mark here. 4:15 mark there. They had to back up each other for consistent rhythm. KC vein in his neck looked like a worm sucking in oxygen for him, as he strained. Yet Stevie, the writer, composer, music arranger, of this song, sung this part as tho he was looking at his fans saying: "hey you guys thanks for coming out" No modulation, i.e., digging into it as even Michael Jackson did as an older adult singer. (Body gesturing) (hand on chest tapping) Just WoW Stevie. Michael (R.I.P) would have started (I'm big fan. I know) like with his hand over his mouth sideways like calling out to someone. whispering it out. Then drop down to dig into it and as he comes back up hand tapping his chest. This why some wise comments say this is difficult. Some ppl on comments understand because I see they comment same thing. You who are lost, you have got to come to the light and be awed by this.
