part of what makes this performance so incredible is that he is on the absolute edge of cracking the whole performance, which makes it that much heavier. You can tell it's right there, but he keeps composed and gives a DEEP and soul stirring musical goodbye to his friend. Absolutely stunning.

Sometimes you can take the sorrow and the pain and channel it into the music so that you feel the emotions but they don't break you. After all, you can't sing and cry, so if you can focus on singing, sometimes you can get the tears to stop. Only sometimes, though; sometimes, it doesn't work.

This interpretation was so deep, I cried 10 tissues and when I listen to this song nowadays, I immediately do cry. This baroque and romantic form language of music makes me feel shaking. What a dramatic performance. ...

Who would've thought an almost 40 year old song would be so relevant.....So sad to see him go but in the same breath so glad his friend was there to remember him.

This was a sad day. I struggled sleeping the day he passed. I was on vacation to see my best friend for the summer in Texas. Watched the entire funeral at home. I will always remember Stevie saying “This was a day I wish I didn’t live to see”. Michael was like his baby cousin, his little brother. I could only imagine the pain he went through singing this

Stevie wonder has a voice that you can feel in your soul. Not sure if that makes sense, but that how it feels to me when I hear him. I was just listening to an album of his the other day and I found myself shaking my head and smiling just appreciating his amazing voice. His choice of singing 'They Won't Go When I Go' was so on point! Michael had all these fake 'friends', backstabbers, media slander, and those wanting to see him fail, that he dealt with and rose above. 'I Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer', such a beautiful song that I already loved at that time. But hearing it in this context, powerful and just really got to me. Crying then, crying now. I'm so grateful Stevie Wonder could be there to share his voice and help everyone grieve a man who held a place in the hearts of millions of people. ❤️

I remember the day of June 25 2009, my family including myself was at my grandmothers house and watching the news when they pronounced that he wasn’t breathing then like an hour later pronounced him dead, I broke down into tears 😭 this was my first heartbreak ❤️🩹 I was extremely hurt even tho I didn’t know him personally, I felt his spirit, personality, and emotions throughout his music, through his performances, Michael was truly and will always be the world’s greatest entertainer of all time. From the time he was dancing to the washing machine, to This Is It. It’s been 12 years & im still mourning and in disbelief. Michael I will always love you and will forever be grateful & blessed to even hear your great voice and music. Thank you Michael RIP my king 👑 😭❤️
