One of the best performances I’ve ever seen and heard. “They Won’t Go” he wrote in the late 70’s off his Fulfillingness’ First Finale album. When I watched this and heard those notes on the piano begin from the first song, I was already emotional and then he just nails it with so much heart.

Sometimes you can take the sorrow and the pain and channel it into the music so that you feel the emotions but they don't break you. After all, you can't sing and cry, so if you can focus on singing, sometimes you can get the tears to stop. Only sometimes, though; sometimes, it doesn't work.

@@BardiaSaeedi Hey mr after the fact. Like you knew before the fact.. the only reason you know is because an hbo doc told you what’s up. Am I denying it?? No. Not at all. I saw this performance as it happened In 2009. Almost 10 years before rhe doc came out. It’s easy to yell at someone when they didn’t know at the time and assume they did. As a matter of fact my best friend OD’d and died of a drug overdose, and I play this song sometimes to think of him. Tryin to post an opinion on someone who you don’t even know, from years ago, like I should have known…. makes you look like an unenlightened jackass. Good job on your critique.

Stevie Wonder has to be the most amazing human God ever created. If I were in grief over the death of a loved one, what Stevie says before he sings would bring me such tremendous comfort. When Stevie says, "I do know that God is good", I completely believe it irrespective of prior reservations. And who can sing that well at his age???

@@andrewstormer1308 so sorry you are enduring the loss of your dad. Grief is a butt kicker of the most epic proportions. I know your dad is watching over you, with love and guidance, from a far better place than we are now. He is with you now and you will be fully reunited one day.

Every now and again, I will remember my immense love for Michael. And I'll eventually come to this amazing tribute. Because out of all of the performances that night, there is no doubt in my mind that this was the most heartfelt and genuine. I love you Stevie, and I'll always love you Michael. I remember wearing my white frilly socks, waking up at 3am to watch this memorial that year. 8 years soon.

This was a sad day. I struggled sleeping the day he passed. I was on vacation to see my best friend for the summer in Texas. Watched the entire funeral at home. I will always remember Stevie saying “This was a day I wish I didn’t live to see”. Michael was like his baby cousin, his little brother. I could only imagine the pain he went through singing this

Stevie wonder has a voice that you can feel in your soul. Not sure if that makes sense, but that how it feels to me when I hear him. I was just listening to an album of his the other day and I found myself shaking my head and smiling just appreciating his amazing voice. His choice of singing 'They Won't Go When I Go' was so on point! Michael had all these fake 'friends', backstabbers, media slander, and those wanting to see him fail, that he dealt with and rose above. 'I Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer', such a beautiful song that I already loved at that time. But hearing it in this context, powerful and just really got to me. Crying then, crying now. I'm so grateful Stevie Wonder could be there to share his voice and help everyone grieve a man who held a place in the hearts of millions of people. ❤️

I remember the day of June 25 2009, my family including myself was at my grandmothers house and watching the news when they pronounced that he wasn’t breathing then like an hour later pronounced him dead, I broke down into tears 😭 this was my first heartbreak ❤️‍🩹 I was extremely hurt even tho I didn’t know him personally, I felt his spirit, personality, and emotions throughout his music, through his performances, Michael was truly and will always be the world’s greatest entertainer of all time. From the time he was dancing to the washing machine, to This Is It. It’s been 12 years & im still mourning and in disbelief. Michael I will always love you and will forever be grateful & blessed to even hear your great voice and music. Thank you Michael RIP my king 👑 😭❤️
