The thing with Kano is that he is a true student/master of grime so alot of the stuff he say's relates to the UK scene. He mentions so many things that it would take a while to decipher it all. Deffo not do-able in the chat because there is so much context to unpack but you're catching enough to see how good his pen gam is. I just wish I could direct you to a breakdown so you could understand how good Kano really is. " not the most fame but everybody put me in the hall " is a perfect description because he's too underground for most to appreciate but he's like your favourite rapper's favourite rapper.

Also the reason why you will hear Ghetts, Wretch 32 and Kano mentioned at the same time is because they were all in a crew called " The Movement " along with another dude called Devlin but they all fostered their own styles. Truly some of the greatest talents to come out of the UK. Its a shame they didn't get a bigger platform cz they would have been bigger than Stormzy and Dave but the new generation don't like deciphering bars 😂.

The thing about Kano, Skepta, D Double E and Ghetts that might not be obvious to people outside of London is almost every line they spit references multiple things that you can only fully understand if you understand the complex mix of cultures here in London. Sometimes people from West London can't catch them. For example, line about "play Ghetts all day then the man dem do Sizzla" - is pointing out that they are both legendary and the contrast in having "street music" with more family orientated stuff. Ghetts is obviously an East London artist who's hype so he contrasts that with Sizzla who is a Jamaican (as is Kano) and more specifically, Sizzle's song "Thank you Momma" which is where the "thank you momma for the 9 months" reference comes from. All this within a few bars of reference something like Pie n Mash, which is a traditional working class meal for English people, especially here in East London. They make these references while switching tempo, tone but also the accents and slang from the different places. So what they are doing takes an incredible amount of skill to bring together. Skepta (Nigerian), Kano (Jamaican), Ghetts (Jamaican and Grenadian) and D Double E (Jamaican) are probably the best at this in my opinion but it's why Grime has a particular sound and culture. (By the way, if you like the Street Fighter reference and energy you should check out D Double E - Street Fighter.)
