Great tip on finding cheap glass, and how to work with it! Also loved the commentary on the usefulness of it :) E P.S. Matthias would probably have added a gear to move the frame, another gear to indicate month, another gear to indicate year, and a button to push on leap years ;)

Another place to get cheap glass that may be bigger than dollar store glass is thrift stores. I buy a beat up framed piece of art and usually toss the frame and art just to get the glass.

When you're applying vinyl, use your squeegee on the sticker before you pull it off the backer. It helps pick up those that were left behind. And if you pull slow, you can see if one is getting missed and pick it up.

If it's like the vinyl I use (here in Australia), the grey back is most likely blockout for when you adhere to something dark or over the top of something else, or if it has small dots on the grey side, these are to promote a bubble free adhesion when applied. Something small like your numbers wont really have any issues with bubbles. Great job!

If you hit the vinyl after it’s applied with some warm air from a hair dryer, it will soften the adhesive just enough that it will grab the surface better. This will help prevent it from peeling off down the road. Also, if you’re working with vinyl and glass, there exist some glass etching compound that is pretty need. Basically you just use the vinyl as a mask for the glass etching compound.

Good project! By the way, I have used those plastic credit card offer cards that you get from junk mail as a burnisher for applying self-adhesive things. round the edge with sandpaper or a file (sometimes you don't even need to) ans you're good to go! They're free and if I ruin it it doesn't bother me.

!!!!YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK!!!! Just needs one more row of month stickers (along the top or bottom) and a corresponding hole in the frame so that when the current month is aligned with the hole, the frame sits around the corresponding number set. You'd have to change it every year but still.
