Mocking celebrities through a well constructed award skit that seems to shoot at Al Gore. Colbert and Stewart are the best comedy duo ever!
@Lucaz998 жыл бұрын
Tim Nguyen they are also mocking celebrities hypocrisy at the same time But yeah, you have a point.
@mattschumacher45813 жыл бұрын
They are mocking the celebrities but they definitely aren’t mocking the left. Colbert is just playing a character that is comically conservative. Well at the time it was comical, now the character would be considered moderately conservative.

Steve Carell is funny but not funny enough to be Ricky Gervais or Will Farell funny and not serious enough or charming enough to be Tom Hanks or Paul Rudd. He's got B-list acting talent in A-list movies or TV shows. Paul and Will don't have major awards but still bring more to the table.
@demetrepanjakidze55753 жыл бұрын
@@lovethieves1383 Well there is where you are wrong. I really like Ricky and Will but Steve is not less funny or more. Why the hell do you think that Steve Carell is not as charming as Thom Hanks or Paul Rudd. He is known as one of the nicest guy's in Hollywood. Not serious enough? As you know Steve is a comedy actor but also plays greatly in drama movies. Have you seen The Foxcatcher? Are you blind? How you seen Beautiful Boy? How he acted there. At the end if you see his crying you will cry too because he is a phenomenal actor and you are just a hater who can't make difference between two things correctly.

I wonder if everyone in the audience realises how much they're being mocked.
@doraaaa061310 жыл бұрын
Looking at Cameron Diaz's mildly charmed yet mostly confused grin, most of them probably don't.
@proteasome7 жыл бұрын
The fact that they mocked all the attendees at the VERY end by accepting Gervais's award for him (HE didn't fly there obviously) was probably WAY beyond everyone. I'm sure they just thought it was a funny daily show reunion. For the first part, I get the impression most of them are uncomfortable the way reporters were at Colbert's correspondent's dinner. Specifically when they pre-empt what all the celebs are planning to say at the after parties ("I bought offsetting carbon credits") by pointing out that's just another form of economic exploitation and white guilt. Absolutely brilliant, so ballsy, but I wouldn't expect anything less from these two.
Maybe they realize they’re being mocked, and are ok with it.

The fact that people would post hateful or homophobic comments a video like this says a lot more about the people who make the comments than about the three guys in the video, who are just old friends having fun and entertaining America. I love those guys (Colbert, Carell, and Stewart) especially when they make fun of hypocrites like homophobes. Thanks for posting this, it was a classic moment. :)

The Steve Carell part, that had to have been improvised? Or perhaps they said to Steve ahead of time, IF Gervais wins, you run up on stage and we'll act like you won. Because they wouldn't have known ahead of time who was going to win...right?

Uh..actually no, it wasn't planned. People who were sitting at the back could read the prompter and all it said was that Gervais couldn't be there so Jon and Stephen would accept the award on his behalf. So you were right, Jon did improvise that bit. Glad Steve played along. :D

Far from it. In the context of this year, Gervais was a respectable choice, and one that I can support. However, in the 6 years that Carell was nominated, they gave the award once to Gervais, twice to Alec Baldwin and Jim Parsons, and once to Tony Shalhoub (with that being his third win overall). All are great performances, but the fact that Steve went unnoticed, especially in 2011, where he was the frontrunner to finally claim the prize and lost to Parsons again, proves frustrating.
