First time viewer, and such a great review video, thank you. Just purchased a Q Follow “Black Friday” still boxed at the moment, but excited to try it. I prefer the styling of the Vertx wheels but the follow technology won it for me. I did ask SG whether follow technology would be added to the Vertx model but they didn’t advise either way which was a shame, otherwise a Vertx follow would be my preferred purchase.

Let’s hope they add follow to the vertx!

Absolutely! Although as my Q is following me most of the time, it’s actually sorting itself out on the hills. The only danger is when you’re walking down a steep one, and it occasionally wants to bite your ankles! I’m now trained to watch it on the steep downhills and get ready to leap out of the way!!

Peter - thanks for this review. I bought an X9 about 3 years ago and sold it 4 months later as the follow function was useless on my course. Additionally it was noisy, rather “active” (never still - playing partners commented) and to get it to work I had a lot of weight in the front. Any thoughts on how the Q or Vertx would compare to the X9? If both came in one I would likely jump in again. Thank you! - Steve

If the X9 Follow function was useless on your course, then the Q-Follow won’t be much better. Although the follow function has been refined a bit since then, it’s much the same. It’s always worked well on my course, and I haven’t really had any issues with it. I wouldn’t say the noise has changed between the X9 and either of the Q-Follow or Vertx either. Not significant enough to notice. Compared to the near silent Motocaddy, the Stewart motors produce a fair bit of noise. I don’t notice it, because the trolley is usually a few steps behind me… however when remote controlling or pushing, it’s quite obvious. Sorry I can’t bring you any good news!

@@petermrattray thanks Peter! It is what it is and I appreciate your Candor. Have you ever tried the MGI brand at all? I am hoping a big innovation comes in this area … have you heard of The Stride?

Thank you! On another note… I sprayed some PTFE spray lubricant into my wheels and on the axels, and it’s made a good job of quietening down the creaking. Not perfect, but much better.

Hi have any of you used the hedgehog wheels on the Q follow?. Not many reviews but very mixed and not cheap do you find it necessary or do long term user find its manageable in wet and frosty wintery conditions. Also thoughts on travel bag. Would leaving it in bag to dry between uses causes more problems than it solves. Do accessory have to be removed before folding trolley.thanks for any help anyone can offer.

I have the hedgehog wheels from my Stewart Golf F1 that fit. I personally don’t bother with them. They tend to rip up the course a bit with the sharp steering, and I don’t find my trolley ever really lacking grip through the winter. Some courses request you use these… but mine doesn’t. If my trolley was soaked during the round, I’d be opening the travel bag up and letting it air out. Same as I do with the contents of my golf bag. My ball holder and towel clip stay on when folding, but some bigger things may need removed. I haven’t tried folding it with the umbrella holder still attached, as I never have it on.

As a first time buyer would you recommend going for the follow?

Having had a follow trolley for nearly 6 years now, there’s no way back for me. Using the Vertx was fun, but I really missed the follow function. Personally, I wouldn’t buy a trolley without follow again… unless something better comes along!

How does the follow cope with severe side slopes. Is the vertx so much of a improvement that if you haven’t had a follow it’s the better option or can follow operate ok on side hills I’m On the fence. I like the idea of follow but the vertx really throws a spanner in the works. I play 4 course regularly one should be classified as a mountain the other ones are a lot less extreme. Which is best suited to cope or is there really not much in it. It’s an expensive mistake to pick the wrong one. Is there a downside choosing the vertx as new untested technology. Is battery life an issues on the follow. Have you had to adjust your bags so weight is bang on or do you have a bit of wriggle room. Thanks.

I haven’t been offered one to test… but I imagine it’s just the same as a Q Follow with different casing. Not sure if it’s real carbon or nicely painted / dipped plastic though?

What happens with the follow when you are walking down hill? Does it stop until you are further down the hill because I am guessing it should not run into you?
@petermrattray
@petermrattray Жыл бұрын
I cover that in one of my previous Q-Follow videos. In summary, it shouldn’t run into you, but it can. It tries to brake when following you down a hill, but if the hill is too steep, it can slide despite braking. Generally I walk down that hill in the video with caution… as it’s one of the few spots I’m in danger of getting run over. The Q-Follow never sits directly behind you - usually slightly to one side - so it’s more likely to run past you than into you.
