I'm kind of surprised that I have not heard anybody - the up and coming comics - rob the line about a man recounting a disappointing intimate experience. The reaction wasn't for what he was doing with his hands, it was for the line he had said just before. He was talking about the two reasons why he thinks men don't get together and slag off women for being bad at sex, and his first reason is that he thinks men have a higher regard for the sanctity and privacy of the sex act... which is blatantly the opposite of reality which was the joke. The playing with the hands, looking down and the coy smile is basically a big wink to the camera telling you he believes the opposite of what he just had said.

I've heard that and.....to be honest...it hurts a little, and I'll tell you why. It was a kind of a , they call it a "meme" now, don't they? The kids, they call it a meme. They take a , admittedly sage observation of a particular trait or saying or experience, and they'll say "I'll make a meme". But what they don't realise is a meme, is actually a device first expounded by professor Richard Dawkins in 1996. And this is not 1996 is it? Its not 1996 Its earlier. And at this point Morrissey had struck out on a solo career that was still active and he had not yet put on the weight or the wrinkles or the Jowels, had he? And that's not the main reason why I don't like this. The reason I don't like this is because, people say "Morrissey has let himself go". But it's not a late middle age quasi fascist with a Gladioli in his pocket and a string of questionable views that divide people along lines of race and hate, with a smug sense of nationalist superiority....is it? No. Its not. Its a liberal intelligentsia stand up comic who doesn't have a Gladioli or a daffodil or any other yellow flower or bunch of flowers hanging like a arsehole from his back pocket.... And he's 22. And a meme hasn't been invented yet
