FMA 101 EP13: In this video we show the basics of utilizing your baton as a choking tool. We cover 3 different chokes in this episode, but there are more variations. It is based on your creativity and you understanding of leverage and pressure. We recommend you do this slowly if training with a partner, as this could do severe injury when compared to doing an empty hand choke.

Can you guys do a video on entries these chokes, and how to get out of them. Plus it would be cool to see how you do it while your opponent also has a stick. Great video!

Nice video! These are savage and hurt bad if done hard. I like that you can use this choking technique with many different objects even a scarf.

Indeed they are. Yes some of these techniques can transfer into flexible objects (towels, scarves, jacket, etc.). More effective (damaging and painful) with solid objects resembling a stick.

@@FMAPulse Agree. I have practiced this in the past both ways. A solid object definitely is more effective but I like that there is an option with cloth if by chance I'm being attacked and that's my only option. It's nice to know there is a back up to the technique. Great videos.

True, be careful doing these chokes especially if your over 40. The nerves, vain, and artery tissues aren’t as strong as it was when you were younger. You run the risk of blood clots. It’s good to do this slowly until your partner taps.

We've heard about this too about those over 40, especially with old school Judo practitioners who constantly choke each other with the gi and arms. Don't be afraid to tap, you can not train if you're seriously injured.

This what I call stick grappling in my system, must indeed be done with alot of care and attention, due to the fact it's so easy to cause very serious damage. Good video guys. Pugay..🙏

Thank you. Yes, usually with beginners we use the padded sticks for safety. Then once they have a better control of their body mechanics, then we use the real rattan, but still going slow. If we have the "Bob" dummy then I usually show them how to crank it.

Man! Those chokes look brutal. Definitely will do damage to the neck area.

I’ve seen a couple more variations on these chokes too. They all hurt.

Most definitely, this can quick and painful on the receiving end. Train with caution with your buddies.
