Alan cracking video and great advice. Love your down to earth attitude and simple approach despite all the silver wear success in a world level! Tight lines Jon

My Dad was a great fisherman back in the day in Chicago. He had his biggest catches mounted and hung up on the wall of his den. The taxidermist he used did a fantastic job I thought. You can hardly see any of the bullet holes.

I booked my ticket for the Riverfest qualifier at Sprotborough again today - fished it last year and loved it. Fabulous river, friendly locals and great banter on the bank. If you havent fished this river - it is well worth the journey.

Hi Ash, We totally agree with you. It could have indeed waited until the season started up again. However, it was filmed with only a few days remaining in the season and we decided that rather than holding onto it, we would release it and give the viewers some more content to watch during lockdown. Best wishes, Drennan.

Hard to imagine that the Don was one of the worst polluted rivers in Europe back in the late 70s early 80s

Is the day tickets available on the bank or local somewhere? Also where is it best to park. I must have driven past there many a time and often wondered what the fishing was like, looks perfect for a stick session.

It's £35 for the year, plenty of water to go at and regular bailiff patrols. I caught my biggest ever perch on stick here, over 2lb 👍

Interested to know how deep that swim is Alan? Are you fishing top, mid or full depth? The swim i fished on the Don was over 7M deep!

Hi, What is the distance between the weights, how long is and what depends on how long to do it?
@terryyakamoto34883 ай бұрын
What you are looking to achieve is a slow fall of the rig so that the hook bait is pulling against the current as the rig settles. This straightens the rig so that it is all in a line with the current. A bait moving unnaturally across the current towards the fish will be ignored, except by tiny fish. However, if you have your shot too spread out and too far from the hook, it slows down the indication of a bite on your float tip and you won't catch as much. It is about finding a balance between bite indication and a slow drop which is why good stick float anglers often move their shot about. Straightening your rig after casting is important

Hi Jano, I completely agree, it is extremely sad to see. It was particularly bad on this occasion as the river had recently been in flood. Still, never good to see waste and rubbish in natural environments.

Yorkshire water. In flood conditions during heavy rain, they release raw sewage into the river, they are allowed to release so much per year. Most of the debris caught on the bushes are tampons, I see hundreds in Sheffield city centre when I'm fishing. When I tell people raw sewage is released into the river, they don't believe it.
