Fantastic review, thanks for this! I too love the Bobbi Brown stick; I have a lot of texture from teenage acne scars (I'm 48), and this provides a beautiful smooth base. I do have to set it lightly though (Next to Nothing). I get the most compliments on how good my skin looks when I wear this or the Laneige BB cushion.

@Dina Sawlani do you use a brush, sponge, or fingers? I never thought of using a sponge with a stick. Thanks!
@dinasawlani
@dinasawlani 5 жыл бұрын
@@wendyraye tbh just use my fingers, blends quite quickly. Beauty blender didn't work on me, I think a conventional old fashioned makeup sponge would work better. I do recommend being well moisturised because Bobbi Brown is not the super emollient type of stick. It does transfer a little though.
@thrpschr

Loved this video. The only one I have is the Bobbi Brown, which, funnily enough, looks awful on me, or at least it did the last time I tried it. Sat in my pores, emphasized all my texture, would not stick to my nose (apart from pooling in the pores). It could look nice once in a blue moon, if I was extremely finicky when applying it, with a sponge, doused myself in Fix+ beforehand, had a great skin day and pulled out all the stops for it, but it was just too much work. I haven't tried to wear it in a while and it's definitely pretty old by now, but my skin has changed slightly the last year or so, so perhaps it's worth another shot if it hasn't gone bad.

I've recently tried the Mehron stick foundation and it did glide very smoothly on the face, but I found that it's very patchy and uneven in my nose cheeks and forehead area and that it creases easily even after I used powder... but it's the only thing I have so I still use it.

NotFortunes Fool I didn’t even know they made a foundation stick. They aren’t a brand that’s easily available here (not in person anyway). Dustin Hunter Camera Ready Cosmetics sells the sticks & samples as well. The sticks I have are 1.5 oz for US$40. Their wonderful satin matte HD liquid comes in 12 shades with 5 adjusters, 1 oz for US$45. They also make 6-color wax-based foundation palettes for US$60; the smaller adjuster palette is US$35. The Maqpro stick & palette foundations are used on Game of Thrones. 😘 Anyway I wear their stick foundie every day, sheeted out with mixer. 🥰

I have a Revlon color ready HD one with SPF. I live in Canada and it is pricey (around $20) because SPF products are federally regulated (like medicine which makes any type of sunblock product expensive). I don't like it because it doesn't blend well with a brush and the coverage is light to light medium. I try to put on more it gets patchy and cakey fast. I use my fingers to blend... it looks better that way but still looks slightly cakey over my large pores. Using it under primer is a big no. The stick is quite waxy. I have large pores and combination to oily skin

Hi Dustin, I’ve been searching for a good stick foundation for about 12 months. I like them for touch ups and travelling. I have tried many but haven’t even looked at Bobbi Brown yet. It’s now next on my list! Thanks Dustin! This was extremely helpful...more than you know. Take care, 💖💖💖 Edit: FYI Revlon has a stick and also the Maybelline Fitme. Christina S Yeah That MUFE one was 💩 LOL! It’s been SO long since I tried that old MAC stick (I never bought it, only looked at it... what... 10 years ago or something? I couldn’t say. I WILL say that if it’s one you liked, start your hunt with other Estée Lauder brands because they often share formulas: Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Estée Lauder, Tom Ford, etc. I see it a lot with brands who share parent companies (Lancôme, YSL and L’Oréal, etc.) but also, depending on the product you’ll find very similar formulas across brands as well - there are only so many manufacturers on the planet you know?

Ooo, what a great video! I love foundation sticks for my everyday makeup, and they are so easy to travel with. My favorites are the Bobbi Brown and the Sephora Collection Make No Mistake foundation stick. The Tom Ford ranks a distant third, but I usually just grab it for use as a concealer. I also picked up one at Whole Foods from the brand Au Naturale and was surprised at how well it performed for a more natural product. Oddly though, the Sephora one is the one I reach for most often and the packaging is surprisingly chic and sturdy (just a matte black tube). I was curious about the Bare Minerals one, but your review killed my desire for it - and that’s a good thing. There’s also a YSL stick I’m curious about, have you tried that one?

I adore face and body and Oooooh I really would like the mixing medium! I feel I have to “custom” a lot of things because I don’t find good makeup (shade wise/color) for my complexion. I’ll check that video ASAP!!!😍

I tried and tried and TRIED that damn Hourglass stick and I hated it every single time. Guess I'm too big of a greaseball to wear it. Thanks for letting me know! (I'm ok with my super oily skin, being a greaseball doesn't bother me much. :D )

Kelli Arnett Haha! That could be why. Thank you for sharing that! It’s a very slick feeling foundation, I think most oily and combo/oily people would find it a little... oppressive? LOL

Ugh I have the worst time getting sticks to work for me which just makes me want to BUY THEM ALL. 😂😭 I should try my Hourglass and Makeup Revolution again before I buy the Bobbi Brown and Tom Ford. 🙈

nicole - pale and freckled Haha! You know why you have such a hard time with foundations right? Because your skin is so pretty and freckly and cute! I love your bare face! Foundations must to... They’re obviously intimidated by it. 🙌🤗✨

elementohsix It could always be worth a try - everyone is different so it could work for you. It’s mostly just me thinking out-loud, based on what I know - how most oily skinned folks might feel about it. Prove me wrong though! I’m a-okay with that! Haha! 🥂✨

Dustin: "Treat yourself, right?" Me: Always!!! If I wore foundation, I would use the Bobbi Brown or Hourglass, because Tom Ford cosmetics are waaay overpriced and just not special to me. I currently use the very creamy Ellis Faas concealer when I am tired of my nostrils looking red. 😂 Thank you for this review. Love and light to you from beautiful OR!

maryragansings Thank you! That Ellis Faas concealer is SO good! I’ve had it in two colors (could never find a color that suited me) but I could make the two work together and I used them all up - they’re great! I hear a lot of people not liking Tom Ford makeup these days. I’ve never used that much. I have one of the first quads and, while I like the colors, they aren’t unique so I never use it and the glittery shadow is pointless. I have one gigantic bronzer that I bought for the compact and a blush in... Savage?? Is that right? It’s another old one. It’s nice but not one I ever used on myself. The two original foundations were where the line excelled for me. I would love to say the stick foundation isn’t work $90 but for ME it totally is. I kept telling myself I would take it back after this video because I didn’t need to spend the money but I keep using it... LOL Time to face the fact that I’m keeping it. Haha!

maryragansings I forgot to say - HOWEVER - the Bobbi Brown is just as good, only more sheer. It was sort of funny to me that my favorites - if I had to pick three - were the Bobbi Brown, the Tom Ford and the Wet n Wild. Haha! A bit all over the map with price points but they’re all equally great stick foundations!
