The collab with Brandi on You're Gonna Go Far genuinely feels like, at least to me, like it's your mom and your dad seeing you off as you go to college and telling you that it's okay to leave because everyone will still be here and you'll still have a home, you'll still have a bed to sleep in at their house and a seat at their table to eat. Noah sounds like a dad a little hesitant to let go while Brandi sounds so enthusiastic about what opportunities their child will find.
@Wraith60000007 ай бұрын
Paul Revere was an American Revolutionary at the start of the American Revolutionary War who was one of the people tasked with notifying the Minute men that the British were coming after the American's threw the British out of Boston and the Continental Congress anticipated British retribution. He famously rode through the night shouting "the British are coming" (though I've read that it was actually "the Redcoats are coming") to warn of the British troops march towards Concord. There is a lot of nuance and the actual story is more complex and full than that, but it is a very popular American mythos taught in elementary school here in the States. As per your comment about him perhaps being a cowboy.

You're Gonna Go Far has always struck me as a letter from the people that stayed in your hometown when you left. They love you and want you to do well in life, but are still sad to see you go. As a younger sibling, it hit me really hard thinking about when my older sister moved out of state and I was still at home with our parents. 😭

1. Paul Revere: I’m from a super small town and I’ve moved. I do wrestle with my love and hate with that town. And Vail Resorts has bought all the local mountains where I’m at now. Ruined them all. I cling to my old town and hate all the changes to it because now it’s almost tarnished. 2. Homesick: feeling so big about leaving that town and hating everyone who’s still there all at once. 3. You needs, my needs: the whole song and the sound is beautiful. Noah is genius. 4. Orange juice: a friend and I fought and practically shouted how each other changed due to the consequences of growing up and becoming adults. 5. The view between villages extended version, I loved the first version and couldn’t believe the extended version could beat the first one and when it did. Hahaha I’m unwell 😂 So excited for the podcast! I will be listening!

That was an excellent reaction Luscent, the best I've seen.😁 Having heard Noah talk about a lot of the songs your interpretation was quite good, if not spot on. I've been a fan of both the music and the awesome human known as Noah for the last 3-4 yrs. I heard Anyway during Covid and that started this beautiful journey. On this album it's quite hard to split some songs as they're all so damn good. My favs are Orange Juice,The View Between Villages( both versions) Call Your Mom, Forever, Everywhere Everything, She Calls Me Back...i could go on and on. As far as the duets i like some more than others but all are pretty good. Having said that I'd still take the original on all of them.✌️

As for the duets, I agree with everything you said. Pretty much spot on. The loss of the original second verse in dial drunk hurts the story (eg "from charming to alarming in seconds" and it's connection to the turn in the bridge). But i will say that with subsequent listens, i love the final chorus with Post Malone. They do add some harmonies in there that add a lot of depth. But yeah, the second chorus with them together is kind of flat.
