I feel like a lot of people missed the message of this song and are swinging it the wrong way, I don't think STYG has ever said they hate the country, but it's easy to tell they hate what has happened to the country we live in
@SAFTH0DEN8 жыл бұрын
Can't speak for the whole band, but Jesse has dropped a few hints here and there that he's pretty much an anarchist now. So I'm pretty sure he hates the whole idea of countries and borders and all this made up bullshit ;)
@mlbmore8 жыл бұрын
If you pay attention to the video it makes sense in whats happening to society. Everybody lets greed and corruption go. Theres no empathy for other races but your own. People just take it all in as entertainment. So at the end of the video you see the sheep or little girl fall with the flag. Pretty much making a statement that if you just keep watching all the bullshit go on and dont do anything about it itll be the countrys downfall.
@KOSVENDETTA7 жыл бұрын
kylelicense funny what has happened to our country seriously there are not white people beating the shit out of any body else, gay people aren't getting attacked and even if I don't agree with transexuals they're hurting themselves more than anyone else, Muslims aren't getting beaten. If anything it's the other way around. But it's okay you all fell for it just keep drinking the funny tasting kool aid.
@benjaminsmith63887 жыл бұрын
+satans donkey Bernie Sanders a Marxist 😂😂😂😂 are you sure you haven't been drinking the cool aid? As an actual Marxist I can tell you just how stupid that idea is :)
@mlbmore7 жыл бұрын
KOSVENDETTA lls. Glad you feel that way. All you have to do is go look at the comments on fb when a news update post shows up about a black person getting shot or arrested, immigration, or something about muslims. The hate and racism in this country is by far seriously sick. But you keep drinking the kool aid and think that its not a problem and its natural.

Some ppl are COMPLETELY missunderstanting the meaning of the song, that in my interpretation say that he prefer to choose a side and fight for a cause, than be static and sit on the fence... better ash than dust can be about he prefers to be burnt, be crucified, be criticized, be judged by ppl, than do nothing and end up dead, turned to dust in another common grave... he choose to fight and be burnt if it needs to... even the final speech talks about being an artist, and raise a flag, do something. And finnaly, at the end of the day, WHO WE ARE to judge if one's belief is 100% righ or wrong? We CAN'T choose what ideals a man choose to defend and pursue in his life, we must choose our own ideals and fight for them, and that's what STYG is doing, doesn't it?

I love the fact that STYG is one of those bands that is actually creating new sounds in the relatively ambiguous space of modern hardcore/post-hardcore/metalcore/who-gives-a-fudgesicle-core.

This song to me is about the struggle in spiritual warfare and the fight against sin and the devil and his demons. Better ash than dust- better to go down swinging and fighting for Jesus than go down a coward. The Father will give us strength to be victorious and glorify him.

Okay everybody chill I'm a stout republican but absolutely love styg and most other hardcore bands out there. I don't think just because you have a certain political view you can't like a certain genre of music. Most genres are liberally influenced and that's fine by me. I think, just as styg does, that everyone should be themselves and not let the masses change who you are. Now let's see how many people tell me I'm out of my mind for liking this band because my views might differ from theirs. Oh and the ONLY thing I dislike about this video is the fact that that flag is touching the ground. That's just a pet peeve of mine.
@nicolafrick95857 жыл бұрын
Stephen Fitzgerald Thank you! At least you are actually trying to start a disscussion instead of stating an opinion as a given. Keep up these commentaries people. And btw, why should you be considered out of your mind for liking this band? Isn't the most crucial and intresting part to listen to other point of views and to argue? :)
