These videos are the best advertisements for H&S possible. As a total noob, I've learned so much from you guys, and if you show this much care in education, you're going to show this much care in customer service. My next brush will definitely be an H&S

After doing this two times and not solving it, I've decided to take the air valve apart. Turns out that the valve closing screw was not tight enough, so the spring did not have enough tension in the end to push the valve rod all the way up. After screwing it a bit more the rod went up all the way, and it worked like a charm. Might be worth telling others in case someone else has the same problem.

That's great to hear! I figured this one out about 15 years ago, and I've really enjoyed seeing how many people have found it such a simple solution to such a frustrating problem. When I start out by saying, "get a jug and boil some water" I really enjoy the "what on earth is he talking about" expression that comes over most people's faces at that point, whilst I know in the same moment that it's going to work really well for them!!! W :-)

Thanks for the video trying this out now. I currently have the Ultra 2024 and out of the box I've had an air leak. I've tried to find where it is testing all hose connections and then noticed it got progressively worse and was coming from the front of the airbrush. I then noticed that the trigger would not return to neutral position (all the way up) after releasing it causing the valve to stay open. Do you think this is a fix to that issue or could I possibly have a faulty unit? I ask because I love the brush but would hate the down time. Thanks!
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 10 ай бұрын
Hey Skyler - underneath the airvalve there is a little flat bladed screw inside the airvalve which you can tighten a bit in order to increase the spring tension on the airvalve. We like to have them quite soft as it helps with the progressive feel on the airvalve. More than welcome to email me for help if it persists - write me on wjs@harder-airbrush.de

Hello, I have switched from acrylic paints to laquer and enamel paints. I'm not sure what I can use to clean my Infinitys without damaging them, regular nitro thinner? And what should definitely be avoided when cleaning? grin
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush Жыл бұрын
Hi Normen... enamels are normally very nicely cleaned using cellulose thinner. It's the least expensive thinner which can work with enamel. You'll find a variant called "gun-wash" thinner in most auto parts stores which is not refined enough to use as an actual thinner, but it's very inexpensive and absolutely great as a cleaner. The only parts to be wary of in the Infinity are: the O-ring on the body which serves to thread lock the end-piece (remove the middle piece and this o-ring comes with it - no need to clean this part); and the tiny o-ring inside the air valve - just unscrew the air valve - again no need to clean that. Unless you're a heavy metal hard rocking animal when you paint, you should not get paint on either of these parts, and therefore you don't need to touch them with thinner :-) thus the airbrush is solvent proof.

As someone that uses solvent based paint I will stop using acetone to clean the airbrush with. It's great stuff but the cellulose thinners/gun wash does as good a job.
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 10 ай бұрын
Absolutely true. Acetone is really not necessary at all. It used to be used by china repair people cleaning two part base colours which became inert to solvent after curing. Acetone could soften that paint to remove it after curing. But for base coats, cellulose etc - massive overkill, bad for you too!

How to get less strain on fingers when airbrushing, badger for instance have a high roller trigger and a finger rest, i havent seen thoose for my harder afaik.
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush Жыл бұрын
Try to hold your airbrush with your fingers more straight than bent. Imagine your trigger finger is pointing at your work, rather than being curled up.Try also to grip between your thumb and middle finger, not with your wedding finger and pinky finger - this contracts your hand across the palm and is really not good for long periods of working. Great idea for another video though - thank you!

How about an air valve with pressure regulation, that you can buy separately? Just bought one and now have exactly the described problem, but it’s brand new and should not have absorbed anything yet? Would it be safe to try the water trick? Also, what kind of lubricant can I use on the ring in the bottom of it, since that seemed to be a suggestion from the manual?
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 11 ай бұрын
Hi Kat - go ahead with the water trick - it's never a process which will cause any damage. Lubricant - we like Iwata Superlube in small quantities. If your airbrush has a problem out the box, please get in touch with me directly on wjs@harder-airbrush.de and I'll help you out! Shouldn't be the case, for sure!

Thank you for a fast reply! Water trick hasn’t helped, but tightening the spring via the brass fitting on the bottom, where the quick release gets screwed on seems to have done the trick 👍

I have a question, after cleaning my airbrush nozzle and nozzle cap, I’m finding that the cup is bubbling. Am I right to assume that somewhere along the time of me cleaning it I must have stripped some sealant and thus there is not an air tight seal between the floating nozzle and the main body? If so how do I fix it?
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush 7 ай бұрын
Hey buddy - no almost certainly nothing like that. Just remove the end-piece, loosen your needle nut, retract the needle a touch, then tighten up the head to a good finger-tight (this is the cause of your problem), then reset the needle, tighten up the needle nut, and I'll bet that you're good to go. W

@@harderairbrush oh my, that actually improved the situation considerably! I still got a few bubbles in my cup but today my H&S cleaning kit with the needle nozzle came in. Another KZbinr recommended using that one instead of the generic kit that came with my old airbrush. I found some sneaky little primer in the needle tip and those two things cleared my problem up instantly! It’s hard finding spare parts in Japan at a low cost so you just saved me the dread of paying for replacement parts that I might not have needed!! Thanks for the awesome troubleshooting support!!!

How do you remove the valve assembly from the Infinity?
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael - just unscrew it :-) if it is overtight, as can sometimes happen, then just use some grips but PLEASE put something nice and soft between them and the metal... you won't need much torque. When putting it back, you only need to screw it on until the o-ring seats - not tight at all, and then it is always very easy to remove.

I've had an Infinity, Evo, and Ultra, they all spurted paint often enough after the trigger goes full forward I stopped using them.
@alexb1340
@alexb1340 Жыл бұрын
Yes unfortunately I have to say that spurting paint is almost certainly a 'You' problem and not down to the H&S Airbrush and is very much caused by poor trigger technique. Go watch the 'Trigger Basics' video in this same series and maybe you will solve your own problem. When I first started with an airbrush after moving from using Binks & Bullows spray guns at work (the ones I used had staged air / paint on / off control) I had this same issue, took a while of practice to get the muscle memory working to get things right. You will always get his issue to some degree or another with every 2 stage airbrush ever manufactured by any manufacturer unless you follow the process Air - ON.....Paint - ON..........Paint - OFF....Air - OFF....
@willrodster
@willrodster Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. Paint splatters is definitely a Me issue. What happens is if I press the trigger no paint comes out. When I release that's when it paints. I don't know if I'm explaining myself correctly here.

How to get to the o ring if the part thats sits oitside is stuck?
@harderairbrush
@harderairbrush Жыл бұрын
Hi Jacob - firstly, the point of this video is to show you how to fix that without accessing the o-ring i.e. no stripping required... you can even put the whole airbrush into the water and this hack still works perfectly. However, if your quick disconnect tail or your air valve is screwed into the airbrush too tightly, the solution is to use either some soft-jaw grips, or a pair of grips with a folded cloth to ensure that you don't mark the airbrush. Hope that helps! Never over tighten things - everything on an H&S is finger tight, no more!
