Lucky shoes get to hang out in the breeze. Those old Pines are magnificent and spectacular views. That pot hole must have been a doozie. Ouch.
@AstheMagpieFlies5 жыл бұрын
It was essentially a water run-off ditch that crossed the road, right at that transition from sun to shade, which is notoriously hard to see. It didn't help that I was distracted cursing the truck tho XD

There are honey holes like that in the back woods of Thunder Bay, Ontario. You go down there way to bumpy logging roads. End up at a remote Lake and BOOM 5th Wheel Trailers everywhere. And your like how the f'ck did they get those down / out here?

Yup. lol It really was an amazing road, it was so beautiful all day! To be honest I really didn't know it was broken until the doc to Xrays the next day. I just thought that I jammed it... REALLY bad haha. Next week, you can look forward to watching me cry and laugh and cry some more it was pretty funny to edit lol

haha Thanks lol you'd probably come across the problem that most people have when they go camping with me: I take FOREEEVER because I want to get pictures and video of every little thing lol it takes me twice as long as anyone else to get out of the tent, eat breakfast and pack up lol So I hope you have lots of patience lol

So unlucky how you broke your wrist, it looked nothing ov a bump ....i broke my thumb but was i big crash , very lucky it was only a thumb , had operation and metal pins to fix it thow , still hurts years later Love your films .
@jgb15496 жыл бұрын
Nice video. Why so many dead trees up there?, looked like caused by acid rain. Painful that stroke of bad luck with the bump braking your wrist, you were advancing so carefully!

Thank you! The short answer is fire. The long answer is Fire and Beetle kill. Lolo Motorway is a part of the Rockies and this area -the Lolo and Clearawater National Forest along with the Bitterroot National Forest- get a regular hit of Forest Fires every Year between June and September. Although it doesn't end up in National news like California fires, Montana and Idaho burns every single year.

Any recommendations? Routes you took?
@AstheMagpieFlies4 жыл бұрын
Bring lots of water, watch out for trenches that go through the road lol if you have the time, camping in this area is just beautiful. Lolo Motorway is the route. There aren't really different routes.

You poor thing! Shouldn't your suspension have prevented that?
@AstheMagpieFlies6 жыл бұрын
The short answer is No. I explain more in the next episode, but I wasn't paying attention -was distracted by the truck in the road-, thus I wasn't prepared for the obstacle, I also didn't pick the optimal point to approach the ditch and cross it. So even though my suspension took the brunt of the drop, when it popped out the other side I was still holding onto the bars pretty tight and it forced my hand backwards as the bars popped up. Perfect storm kind of stuff lol

Ouch... oh that sounded painful! I'm surprised it broke your wrist though would have figured the shocks would have done there job... ouch..
@AstheMagpieFlies5 жыл бұрын
It sure was lmao It was more because I wasn't prepared for the dip, so even though my shocks took most of the brunt, when it popped back up I fractured my scaphoid from the shock of the bars coming back up and my arms weren't loose or even ready for that obstacle lol just the repercussions of not paying attention and cursing out the truck on the side of the road that was sticking out into the road.

Hi, you can just camp any spot in the camp site? Any permissions needed?
@AstheMagpieFlies5 жыл бұрын
The campground that I stayed at is called Pataha Campground south of Pataha, WA which is a designated forest service campground, however there was no fee or campground host. Some designated forest service campgrounds have fees and some do not. You don't need permission per say to camp at a Forest Service Campground, but some you do have to check in with a campground host and pay a fee, others are not maintained like this one. But, you can do something called dispersed camping in National Forests, BLM Land, Wildlife Management Areas etc. However different states have different rules so it's good to stop in at a Forest Service office to ask them about any regulations or restrictions you should be aware of. In Montana you must be 150 feet from the road, and you can't be visible from the road, you must follow Leave No Trace principles (essentially pack it in pack it out, don't leave any trash or evidence that you were there), you can't camp within 100 feet of any water source, and if you're camping in Bear areas you must hang your food or have a bear canister.

I'm fine! When my tire popped out the other side of the ditch it bent my wrist backwards and I broke my Scaphoid (a tiny bone inside my wrist). Part 3 will be out next Wednesday with all the info and also how I got out of the woods.

Ouch !! You are one brave Lady to dismiss the pain by referring it to be a" tiny bone" in your wrist.Hope you heal up really quick , and are back on the bike again soon pain free.Look forward to part 3.Kind regards and ride safe.
