Ingredients
Cake/Pudding
300ml of water
250 Grams of dates
1 Teaspoon of baking soda
75 Grams of butter
2 Eggs lightly beaten
1 Cup of self raising flour
1 Cup of brown sugar
Sauce
60 Grams of butter
1/2 Cup of brown sugar

Hello from Bahrain, i made this yesterday, i put the egg and i stirred fast but unfortunately the egg cooked and it was a disaster, so i tried again today and i waited the date to cool down and then i added the egg, i had to put it in oven for 40 mins, it turned to be the most amazing date cake i have ever tried in my life, thank you very much for the amazing recipe! I LOVED IT!!!

I think he should have stressed 10 minutes or more of cooling off time before adding the eggs.

This is so good that, I haven't made this in ages. Today I had a psychotic craving for it and all I could vaguely remember was an aussie guy and a date pudding video. I've never remembered a video that quickly. Hats of to you! This dessert is too good to exist.

Thanks soo much, made it today and my family loved it. Added a bit of instant coffee to the caramel sauce to make it browner and also for a bit of zing. I put the caramel sauce on the side for the family to pour on their own plate

Have made this last night together with my child ... OMG ! is so good and so easy to make. Halved the sugar portions - for my kid to eat also - and still is very tasty. The sauce needs to be boiled for about 5-7 minutes, in order to get to that "gravy" consistency (or that's maybe because I put less sugar) . For sure one of my favorites - Thanks !

Btw, I recently purchased real grade A organic Canadian Maple syrup, first time in my life trying the real stuff. WOW what a difference the flavour is SO nice, nutty with almost a chocolatey taste to it. Expensive stuff but really nice.

This is an excellent recipe! Made it last night-easy peasy-and DELICIOUS!! We are trying to reduce our sugar intake o I substituted xylitol for brown sugar in sauce and a little salt! Wow! Great!

If you do this except poke holes in the cake while it's cooling, and pour half the sauce over it, it absorbs into the cake and makes it even better. And then the rest of the sauce just poor over the top like normal. Also nice video!

I've been diabetic for 17 years and for 16 of them I was able to control my sugars PERFECTLY. I adore this dessert and had no trouble eating it as a treat occasionally. But last year I began the change of life, endured the loss of my family and daughter, and moved to another state. I'm also getting older. All those factors combined to make control of my Diabetes more difficult and alas...until I reach my target numbers (almost there but INCREDIBLY hard now) I can only drool in envy while others get to gobble!🍰

Sorry I don't want to sound ignorant and a bit silly, but couldn't you just take insulin for any sort of carbs (like sugar, starch). I don't know a lot about diabetes so I apologise again.

+Agata Stradczuk no worries....not a silly question at all. I am currently using pills to control the disease. People use insulin when pills no longer work. It's kind of a last resort. Insulin is a hormone created by the pancreas. It promotes can the storage of body fat in type 2 diabetics. The goal is to stay off of it as long as possible.
