Porridge is pearl barley. Meatballs we call "tefteli - тефтели" this word is not translated. And yes you are right - there is rice and beef. Pate - liver. Sweet - with a taste of plum. Inside is plum jam. Tea is horrible. We have very poor instant tea. Thanks for the video) I'm from Russia, but I've never heard about this ration! Great review!

There are three types of kasha I’ve seen in these rations: buckwheat, pearl barley (you are correct, this is the one reviewed here), and rice. Tefteli are similar in content to what Brits, Aussies, and so on would call a rissole- only a lot smaller.

Thanks again for your input! I really appreciate it.. the meatballs were excellent and you are right about the tea, not good at all. The plumb candy was surprisingly very nice! Overall a great ration and a compact version of the standard (huge) military version.

I would have to consider the buckwheat kasha to be my favorite.. seems like the pearled barley is a bit mushy and so is the rice porridge.

Thanks for a nice review ! I've had an earlier version of this ration. I can't remember this dissapoiting drink. The entrees are really good, and the candies look exceptional ! I haven't seen candies with plum stuffing.

Really good ration. Done quite a few Russian ones lately. That’s good. Guess your an expert at cooking Kasha. Strange about the ice tea mix. Would be cool if you get two again to perhaps put both in one beverage and use less water. Do the Russian ones have both apple butter and apple jam and if so do you like one better and why??

The thing with the drink is that it was sweet.. no problems there. The flavor was just lacking... if I mixed the two drinks it would just be water and sugar. Haha yeah I’m getting used to the Russian rations.. what can I say Im a big fan and i almost have to have one at least once a month 👍

The ration is for prison guard or “workers”... mainly while transporting prisoners over a long period of time.... my guess is that the prison guards aren’t allowed to stop at McDonald’s while on duty, so these rations are their means of getting food. It would be nice to confirm that..
