The defendant hired the plaintiff to make dresses for her wedding party. Unfortunately, the plaintiff claims she has yet to be paid, so she’s suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff didn’t deliver the dresses in time, so she owes nothing. In fact, the defendant says the dresses were so late that they missed out on using their limo rental, and the photographer couldn’t get photos of the defendant’s bridal party.

Agreed. She said they were running around on the day of the wedding trying to solve the marriage license problem, so the day likely wasn't going to play ANYWAY re: the schedule. They also had possession of the dresses for who knows how long between the wedding and the court case. I'm wondering why the zipper wasn't fixed the same way as the reception dress. If the plaintiff was there and hand-sewing anyway, why wouldn't they have her sew up a zipper (or even sew the girl into the dress like they did before zippers)? Just way too many moving pieces to figure out where liability would be, and both litigants looking for (in the judge's parlance) a boNANza with inflated lawsuits.

This is a mess beyond messes. The plaintiff is a shoddy seamstress, and the fact that she doesn’t accept ANY accountability for her part should serve as a warning to anyone considering hiring her in the future. The defendant…how utterly embarrassing. Why would anyone be trying to get the marriage license on the day of the wedding?! What kind of backwards, ill-planned mess was this? Also, no one can force you to stay married to them if you don’t want to be. There are legal remedies that can help to facilitate a divorce, IF in fact that is what the fiancé really wants. There is a lot more to this whole sordid story, and I don’t know how many years ago this case took place, but I guarantee you the defendant STILL isn’t married to that man. Stop accepting crumbs when you deserve the entire cake.

Here's a clue. 99% of people who get dresses "specially made" look like their crazy aunt made them last night. Everyone can tell and it just screams terrible taste. I don't know why some people think it's a good solution. It's terrible. They usually look like trash. Buy from a store and get them altered!!! You get strong stitching from a proper manufacturer and high quality dresses for reasonable prices. It's almost always cheaper and far more elegant than trying to handmake something. Why do people put themselves through this? Stop feeling like you can't find anything you like in a store. There's millions of dresses out there.

The idea that someone would be marrying a married man and getting upset over dresses lets you know she doesn’t have the right priorities. This is why you don’t mess with married ppl-- She didn’t care honestly. Ppl want to impress others so they put a pretty bow a pile of dung. She hadn’t any business going through with any part of the day and she and her “man” were to caught up in lusting to do the right thing and make sure that things were together. Without a marriage license ... you don’t have a marriage a wedding is a day and the way they started and the day went is a huge indication that it’s not right. If she had brains she should should feel sad for the example she is setting for her children and family members.

Oh. Dear. Lord!! Second case I have listened to today ( one on Judge Judy), the desperation to marry a man who's hands are not completely clean from a first marriage. This case is absolutely crazy and disorganized.

This case is from several years ago, but I get the feeling that by now the defendants fiance probably never got a divorce and they probably never went through with actually getting married. It's very possible that the guy was cheating on his wife with the defendant and try to get married to her while he was still married to the other woman.

That wouldn’t have ever worked out seeing as they'll have to register their marriage through their state they live, UNLESS they live in a state where its legal to be commit Bigamy

@faznout I disagree. I know so many people (mostly women) that just refuse to agree to the divorce (they want to hang on, don’t want to give up financial benefits, etc). When I was getting divorced, my ex and I were in the courtroom and watched a man cry to the judge. His wife continued to extend the process…it had been 3 years. The judge said he was sorry but if the wife said she didn’t want the divorce he couldn’t “just grant it”. The shit is awful.

@@MrsNikkiStephenson - I kinda get what you're saying. But a lot of people who get divorced, after several months or a year later they end up missing each other. Then start talking about getting back together again, which some do. Then not long after that they start having the same problems all over again. No matter if another man or woman is involved or not. The main reason is because in most relationships neither party wants to be the one to change or say they're wrong. So when a couple gets back together married or not, they go right back to the same person and problems that caused the breakup in the first place. But if adults would just get over themselves, and seek professional help, it would be a lot different in so many relationships.

Well obviously you haven't heard mine yet. I married the guy and his ex who was married to another man for over thirty years was trying to break us up causing all kinds of mess and chaos, even while she was with someone else. He had divorced her over forty years ago and his ex was still in love with him while with someone else. We had to get the police involved who went to her home, gave her a good talking to, threaten her with jail time if she wouldn't stop interfering with us, and that's what caused his ex to stop bothering us. I simply can NOT imagine how her husband she was with at the time must have felt for her to still be in love with her ex who is with me. All that drama started back in 2018 days after I made the announcement that we had just bought our marriage license and planning to get married weeks later. As of today, me and my husband have been together eight years and married five, happily married, and his ex no longer causing drama living her own life. 6:57

They were doing cheap business with each other and both were slacking on their priorities. Like seriously if it were me, I’d make sure I get my dress two weeks-a month in advance before my wedding to be sure it fits me and is to my liking. Not waiting a day before my wedding than get the dress smh.

The zipper on the daughter’s dress is what I like to call a cheap zipper (all brands or unbranded ones with that same zipper pull). Those always fail for me and eventually break. I’ve never had clothes that I’ve bought that kind of zipper came off the whole way from the stitching. It’s been either zipper pull braking apart, the zipper pull coming off of the teeth, or the teeth just end up in a state of always not staying closed. So I avoid clothes with zippers that look just like the one on the daughter’s dress. YKK are some of the best zippers and they’ve lasted at least 10 years of regular use (also including zipping and unzipping fast which can quickly ruin cheap zippers). They might be some of the pricier if not the priciest ones to get, but they seem to be worth it.

The defendant seems dense delusional and desperate. I can see how she was about to marry a married man 🙄 she willingly planned all this stuff just to have a reception for a wedding she knew wouldn't be possible. The plaintiff still wrong tho whether the wedding was happening or not she was late and the dresses were raggedy. Also if the plaintiff did have sense enough to want the dresses the day before she still would not have had them. This case was a hot mess. Fair judgement. I think Judge would've gave more if the wedding actually had happened.
