When I was flying RC I built a 5’ wing span trainer on the floor. I used book shelves for the wings. My trainer buddy was shocked how straight & true it flew all trims were centered. Needless to say I was shocked too! Just needed room of course for allowing glue to dry on the spars. They make scale model jet engines now but you wouldn’t want that smell in your apartment.

That is a lovely jet engine model Stig, I also love that it rotates. And don't worry about the counter-rotation, it gives it character. Propeller driven aircraft need counter rotating blades, but even more so helicopters. Commercial jets don't really need counter-rotating jet engines as you know. Again, I love the detail of that model you put together, I think your supervisor approves, as do I. It honestly reminds me of the ones they have in aircraft museums you've attended, or perhaps a fancy flight school.

12:00 the F135-400/600 Low Bypass Afterburning Turbofan engine with over 40,000 LBS of thrust (can’t give exact numbers due to confidentiality) is another engine that has counter-rotating compressors, it has to do a lot with balance iirc bc if you ever get the chance to see an F35 start up, not only do you feel that crazy vibration in your chest, you can see the jet moving from all the engine vibration bc it’s still starting lol, it’s quite cool

13:57 Depending on the type of the electric motor they include in the set, if it's a DC motor (should be since it connects directly to the batteries), changing the polarity can make it spin in the other direction. Usually works with repurposed PC fans, not sure here

Hi Stig. Loving the channel. I recently broke 2 bones in my foot whilst on holiday, you are keeping me sane. I was supposed to fly out on a ATR 72 600, a new one, but, the airline has had a few issues with its fleet, so I ended up on a 37 year old SAAB 240, I had no worries about the aircraft age or saftey aspects thanks to your constant information about how the aircraft are maintained, and checked. Keep up the good work, I'am spreading the word about your channel to friends and relatives. Gary
