That is reflective material. On some roads it’s put in the paint before it’s sprayed. I believe it’s made of fine glass. It reflects light when you are looking at it at night with lights.

Returned from Florida but before we left Orlando the Delta aircraft mechanic had to come on board to fix my overhead storage bin. The door wouldn’t latch. As soon as the tech came on board I thought of you Stig. Tech had it fixed in 5 minutes. 👍 I was on an Airbus A 321-211 4 years old. For some reason as I board the plane I always pat the outside of the door opening ( the fuselage). The 321-211 are the only aircraft that Delta uses for Orlando flights from New York. Plane N106DN

Safety Wire pliers (wire locking pliers). The British Navy does not have your tool. The Royal Air Force in Britain has the proper tool, but not the Navy. Why? The Navy is poor and always trying to save money. I spent 25 years in the Navy over here in England and never saw that tool until I worked for a civilian contractor. You would not believe it but it is true.

Crazy that planes have tire pressure monitor system. Works just sbout the same as a car. Only a car the sensor is in the tire mounted to the valve stem (older ones use a band sensor mounted on a band wrapped around the center of the rim) through sensor send a wireless signal to the transponder. Transponder sends it to the IPC (instrument panel cluster) same principle. Never thought they would be on a plane. How many PSI is a plane tire? And how much does it weigh?

Stig, what are the certifications/licenses of the people driving the tow tractors? After all they’re moving expensive, big, oddly shaped aircraft talking to the crew or ATC when repositioning. Technically one needs a Radio Operators License, there is an accepted protocol for communications. I did it at smaller corporate airports as an A&P, not something like LAX, until I started flying and had the Radio License.
@StigAviation
@StigAviation Күн бұрын
@@douglasslotolowicz9454 there is no license for that. It’s just training. Most of the people driving or towing aircraft around or non-licensed ramp agents. The company will train them on how to operate these machines and vehicles, also everybody on the airport goes through airport operations training and there are certain qualifications that allow you to move aircraft on the airfield from training from the airport as well as the company. Mechanics also get this training on top of our airframe and power plant license certification.

Best advice for you is have a open mind and don’t hesitate to ask questions to your instructors. The key to this is getting a good grasp of the basics because the basics are your foundation of knowledge. Besides that they are going to teach you everything to pass those tests. In regards to after you get your certificate, the job opportunities right now are very much open and aircraft maintenance is in high demand. I don’t think you’ll have trouble finding employment
