To get the most gain on those is to completely gut the muffler so it's a hollow can basically, wut I do is use a muffler deflector from a Husqvarna 288 and use rivnuts and bolt it on with a sparkarestor screen,yes it makes it louder but the power gain is greater

Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind! This one ended up louder than it should. I drilled the hole in the wrong spot and bypassed the baffle, basically it’s just a hollow can now. You ever do any port work on one? Is it worth it? Raise the exhaust and lower the intake port?

They are a great saw. I've the 029 farmboss. Don't know the difference but great saw. Did the muffler mod and tuned it easy enough. Just needed to adjust the oil feed for the bar. Thanks for the vid

Idk know the difference either. They’re my favorite saws. They’re about the perfect balance of weight and power. I use mine the most. Thanks for watching!

Funny how them saws are like Mozart to my ears because I know I can walk into the forest with one with some fuel oil n chain sharpener and build a flipping log cabin that's for real with just them few supplies,ps maybe a cache of beer n viking juice

They have their own sound. You can hear the difference between a stihl and Husqvarna. The 029 super is probably my all time favorite saw. Thanks for watching!

I drilled two big holes in divider and doesn't seem any louder

I messed this one up when I did it, it’s louder than others that I’ve done, but it’s not horrible. Amazing what a couple holes does to help them run! We did a couple of Husqvarna s L’s for my neighbor, night and day difference! Thanks for watching!

Yea can’t complain about a free saw! Especially one of my all time favorite saws! He also gave me a 20hp twin cylinder kohler magnum for the pulling tractor.

That Kohler a diesel ?
@karnesmotorsports3 жыл бұрын
No I wish! It’s a flat twin gas, not as buildable as the v twins but starting out with 20HP instead of 12HP. It’s just on the upper edge of the rule book.

I love my 029 Super. Great old saw. I have a MS391 I like too. Just something about the old super. Thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing!

This is what I hope my new chainsaw aspires to be lol. Just got a 029 super from my dad today for 20$, looks barely used. Only problem is its leaking bar oil like a sieve. I'm suspecting the bar oiler hose. I'll be tearing it down in the next couple days. Also looking into a 20" bar and chain when I get it going (I'm feeling confident about it). So 20" bar, possibly Oregon? And 3/8 matching chain?

Very good score for $20! This one leaks bar oil as well. Sometimes really bad other times not bad. It’s still one of my all time favorite saws. I used a 20” stihl bar I had leftover from my MS391, same with the chains. You will have to swap out your drive sprocket to a 3/8” from the .325” sprocket if you have the changeable sprockets. If not you’ll have to swap out the clutch drum for the right size. Good luck with it, I love my 029 super. Thanks for watching!

@@karnesmotorsports Yea definitely happy to own my first chainsaw, so no more borrowing dad's old husky every time I need to take out some branches or trees. I got it out on the work bench today, got fresh gas in it, cleaned off the spark plug and airfilter. I got it started but only runs for 2 to 10 seconds at a time (guess it's time to pull the carb next). On another note after looking closer today at the saw, it already has a 18" stihl rollomatic E with a 3/8 chain so no need to change the sprocket or clutch drive atleast, probably still upgrade to a 20" and I need a new chain anyways (because why not😁)

@@motov8-garage832 ive had an 029 for about 6 yrs. Yes you can pull an 18 or a 20. I keep a 16 on mine. Takes less time to sharpen the chain and even with a shorter bar i can bog the saw down if you push too hard. I always felt like it didnt make enough power to comfortably pull a 20. Still a great saw dont get me wrong

Thanks so much for the vid. What size bar is on that thing?
@karnesmotorsports3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! It had worn out 16 or 18 on it when I got it. I put a 20” I had laying around on it. I had to change the sprocket driver on it because I went from a .325 chain to a 3/8” chain. It runs it really well!

I was never a big dremel fan, but I picked up a Milwaukee M12 dremel the other day. They’re way handy! I use it all the time! Thanks for watching!
