Great video. Clark was the best all around cable skidder ever. I had a F66 with 5.9 Cummins.

The work that you're doing right now is what I did up in northern Oregon for my dad and my grandpa we logged a lot in the winter time because the ground was harder and is easier to move the logs around and our logs were 32-ft long well actually 34 because we had to have trim for the mill and we were logging Doug fir and ponderosa pine watching you dropping trees in that man working at skitter is freaking awesome

Where did you get the outside dog for your saw?
@dylanguay2 жыл бұрын
660 0801 Matches the inner spike without the roller catch if I remember right. But the slightly larger spikes with the roller catch is what I prefer. 1122 664 0501 fits with slight grinding.

Why do so many from the east use the top of the bar? Isn't the saw made to work using the bottom?
@dylanguay4 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with top-chaining with a smaller bar. I don’t like felling on the underside of a leaner and there isn’t always room to flip the saw when you cut low stumps for a cable skidder. Also saves walking to the other side of the tree, which seems silly but day after day it’s the little things that make the job easier. Hope that makes sense.
@joelsanford4 жыл бұрын
Top or bottom of the bar doesn't matter really, for felling if you don't have a full wrap handle it can be easier to flip the saw rather than walk around to the other side of the tree.
@kevimc4 жыл бұрын
@@joelsanford no one I know in the east uses a wrap around,, too cumbersome for smaller trees, I live in Eastern Canada, when cutting a larger tree than your bar, you borecut using the backside of the bar saves having a long dangerous bar when most of your trees can be cut with a smaller bar, too many limbs, western loggers do not have the brush we deal with in the east, trees like that down here are in a park
@joelsanford4 жыл бұрын
@@kevimc I'm in the north east US so I'm familiar - we have small trees and big trees so I have small saws and big saws :) I have a 95cc full wrap handle saw for felling and 50 cc and 70cc saws for bucking and limbing and dropping smaller trees/brush. Don't get to use the big saw often but on the bigger trees with usually dead centers I find it easier to not be trying to make the bore cuts line up so the longer bar is better for that for me.

Yeah 24, my first one. I’ve used a 20in for the past 10 years. Light bar will definitely happen next time, it’s a little nose heavy with the regular 24” This is in Thorndike.

🤣what? In order to cut a Humboldt you have to cut a higher stump...waste of wood as well. Need low stumps for a cable skidder anyway so conventional notch works here.
