All the talk about a roller, and scratched paint. This trailer is like a pipe wrench. It’s got a tough job to do. The only roller it needs is a paint roller every couple of years. The floor of the trailer is a wear deck. As for the second winch, for all the time this trailer will be doing the actual job it’s built for doesn’t justify the cost. How many roll deck wreckers do you see with a second winch to straighten out a car the guy is loading, and they’re doing that all day long ? Paint in this application is only superficial. It’s like paint on the blade of a bulldozer. They don’t stay new for ever. Use it, don’t abuse it.
@Nphen
@Nphen 3 жыл бұрын
No need for rollers or worry about the tree logs scraping the paint. There was a metal chain trapped under the first log as he unloaded it. He didn't notice it because of his sightline. Would have been simple to remove and save wear on the trailer deck.

George, no issues with paint but a tail roll reduces or eliminated lots of "cam over's" or surging of irregular shapes as they're loaded. This means the load moves much more smoothly and as such can be spotted more easily to balance over the axles- instead of having it surge forward and over wt the tongue. my point is based on the heavy equipment loading tail roll trucks, trailers and equipment haulers, no worries about paint- but a cam over surge can be unhealthy. Tail roll would reduce/eliminate that risk when using a cammed arch method or handling loads.

Matt, I'm sure this has been suggested before but it would be quite interesting to me to get an actual log weight. Maybe arrange to go through a truck scale before and after pickup for the really huge ones. It would allow us to see how accurate the weight estimation calc is. Thanks for making these videos.

And your s800tx, that's a nice unit to have around the yard. All around, awesome set up 👊🏿 Your buddy Brandon though.. yikes. That boy needs to invest in a helmet and some chainsaw pants. First things first, the guy who dismantled the tree did what he was supposed to do, dismantle it. However the way in which he did it makes me fear that one day he will have an accident or worse. First of all PPE: no helmet, no visor, no safety goggles, no gloves, no saw pants. He survived this job but he should invest in some safety gear if he wants to stay alive. Second, technique: lots of dangerous saw cuts and lots of dangerous positioning of himself in relation to the sawing action. Again, during this job nothing happened but you can't keep challenging your luck. There are lots of resources on proper chainsaw handling. His climbing, keeping his line slack instead of tight, improper anchoring. Just lots of little things that could mean life or death in case of an accident.

The dude running the saw is a hack. No ppe not even chaps. Using a ladder and a rock climbing harness instead of a proper rope access or tree saddle. poor felling technique, you can tell because theres no hinge wood on the stump. A dull saw, you can tell because the saws are throwing dust instead of ribbons. Finally one seriously messed up lawn for the home owner. If you ever need tree work done and a dude shows up like this, get a new tree guy.

@umaikakudo
@umaikakudo 3 жыл бұрын
Tear cuts dont matter on a removal. What does matter is one handed chainsaw use, no helmet, unsecured equipment aloft, people in the drop zone with no helmet or other protective gear, dropping limbs near power lines with bystanders that have no PPE and are too close, operating a saw while tied in only once, frequently climbing high above his tie in point, no chainsaw leg protection, and a half dozen other OSHA and industry standards violations. This guy is going to kill or maim himself or someone else some day if he keeps working this way.
@mlindholm
@mlindholm 3 жыл бұрын
@@umaikakudo You don't need them for the health of the tree, but doing it can ensure a clean break on a limb being removed. Seems that logically it'll be more likely to "snap" and fall predictably, rather than tear down the bark and whip around where you weren't expecting it to.
@ArsonistArborist

@@umaikakudo yeah, a lot of people are complaining about no undercuts. Undercuts have there place, but definitely are no always necessary. When he's on the ladder (which he shouldn't be in the first place!) THEN he definitely should have been undercutting. You don't want that limb coming back at the ladder. But when you're actually climbing, no ladder, then who cares if the limb flies back at the truck. Let her fly

Some of the flame structures that will show up where the cuts are going right across the grain, (as in quarter sawn) will be spectacular! I really enjoyed cutting and polishing white oak. Very hard and splintery for cabinetry work but worth it!

@Jackie Meintjes words can save a life. This man needs to hear that his methods are incredibly dangerous. He's probably doing it out of ignorance, thinking that it's completely fine. But he needs to learn there are better ways. That knowledge could save his life. Silence won't.
