GREAT that you filmed showing the 800 blowing gravel as it illustrates its power off well. I'd been using a 700 in seasons prior to this one and after a month or so with the 800 that was the first thing I noticed was how it tossed weightier material (nuts, massed sticks, etc) around a LOT easier. Just now getting into leaf removal season and am looking forward to dealing with them in bulk. I also dug the two torso straps as it helped with fatigue of having the unit on my back for hours on end. That said: the side-pull cord sucked! As you mentioned, forget about it for a cold start. Even with a warmed engine I found it awkward and having to take several pulls. To be honest, after a couple weeks I gave this model to another work crew with the company and settled for the 800 model a step below (AND 50 BUCKS CHEAPER) with just a regular pull cord on the backside of the machine. How often do you have reason/need to start a blower after it's on your back anyhow? I also worried about how much more prone to breakage or other problem might arise from where it is positioned on the unit.
@djg10285 жыл бұрын
ayinger2 yeah much more power. The side start with machine on your back is designed for warm engine starts only. When cold the machine should always be started on the ground. You also want to always pull it half way out and let it go back in and then a long tug and it will always start right away.

Vince we’re you able to master the start when engines cold? How many pulls on average?
@djg10283 жыл бұрын
@@kmillard81 You can get the 800 without the side start technology but it starts just fine when it’s cold, just turn the choke on pull the recoil rope out a little bit let it go all the way back in and then give it a good yank and I can achieve first starts when cold as long as the choke is on.

I borrowed a BR600 for my first try of a backpack blower. I found alot of torque pull on the trigger arm, is this normal? It was very fatiguing!
@djg10283 жыл бұрын
I would say it’s not totally normal, but what’s nice about the br800 is it has an adjustable trigger length so depending upon how long your arm is if you have long arms or shorter arms you can move the trigger throttle forward or back and then lock it into that comfortable position.

My BR800C doesn't want to start after using it for 2 hours today. I filled up with premium gas mixed with kawasaki oil (as shop instructed)...now it won't start at all. Primed 6 pushes, turn to choke, just not turning on. Any ideas?
@djg10285 жыл бұрын
Will Chu you want to use nothing but Stihl oil. Do not use Kawasaki oil or any other kind of oil other than Stihl oil. Stihl spends millions on oil research and design. That might be your issue. Otherwise check your spark plug. Also if you were using it for 2 hours than the engine would be warm and you need to start it with no choke or half choke. Make sure the throttle kill switch isn’t all the way off and as soon as the engine starts you give it a throttle blurb and the choke goes off.

@@djg1028 I will look into the Stihl oil. I just bought the thing. Thanks for your response. It happened to be that I wasn't giving it throttle.

is that a two stroke or four, sounds like a four.
@djg10284 жыл бұрын
Robert Parkhurst It’s considered a four stroke because it has two valves there is a power stroke and a compression stroke. But it still uses a gas oil mix. No crank case oil. Kind of a hybrid.
@robertparkhurst26464 жыл бұрын
@@djg1028 thank you very much for that answer.
@djg10284 жыл бұрын
Robert Parkhurst your welcome! There is an intake power or compression stroke and a exhaust release stroke using the valves. A typical two-stroke does not have valves.

8010 is more powerful than he br800, period. I own the 8010 and have owned the br800X and the 8010 also runs longer on a full tank of gas and has no valves to adjust. Just straight 2 stroke muscle.
@craigdoriety97984 жыл бұрын
I am trying to decide between the 8010 and the 800 right now. Same price. Have a Stihl dealer much closer than echo, so their is that consideration for service.
@michaelholly883 жыл бұрын
A little more power but no where near as comfortable to wear, no side start. Does the echo have the same size tank? Fuel consumption vs. tank size makes a difference, I’ll take the lighter unit with a smaller tank, less fatigue wearing for extended time.
